Vehicle Detail
This is an unique opportunity to own a reliable, affordable and fairly rare example of the desirable 308 series Ferrari. Fewer than 800 GTBi 's were produced. In addition, this car is a highly sought after european model which boasts slightly more power and is less heavier than the U.S. spec version. As a Euro model, it does not have the smog pumps and emissions systems the U.S. cars were saddled with, not to mention the less attractive, and much heavier, rubber bumpers and side marker lights fitted to the U.S.models. The lines of the euro version 308 are exactly as Pinnifarina envisioned when designing this car, which has often been described as sculpture on wheels. Before I get much further let me state that this a 1981 european car. Ebay's system does not recognize the euro VIN for some reason, but in any event here it is: ZFFHA01B000039113. I had to list the car as a 1980 model in the description above in order for their system to accept the listing. The Good This 308 runs great and recently has become more reliable as a daily driver than my 3 year old Toyota Tundra ( emission pump troubles!), which is something I could have never imagined saying. Over the past 10 months I have worked out almost all the issues on this car and performed lots of deferred maintenance as well as installed a few design upgrades. Here is what has recently been done to the car: new timing belts and tensionersengine oil change with baldwin filternew bosch fuel filternew fuel pump with external check valve new thermostatnew expansion tank caprefurbished original radiatorBirdman's fuse blockswindow acceleratorsnew window switchesnewVoxx 17" wheelsnew Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires 235/45/17new cold forged german lug bolts7mm aluminum rear wheel spacersspare alternator beltnew spark plugsreplacement of several engine cooling hoses ( under the plenum) Odometer reads 38,334 Km , or equivalent of approximately 28,000 miles. I have the original set of 390 TRX Michelin shod wheels that can go with the car if someone wants to retain them for originality purposes. The car also has the dino space saver spare tire. I do not have the original tool kit. The car was originally delivered in Dino Blue( gorgeous color IMO) but was painted black at some point. The interior has been redone and the seats , dash and door panels look great as you can hopefully tell from the pictures. It also has the deep front chin spoiler and the rear roof spoiler. I also have a copy of the DOT letter from 1987 when the car was imported. The Bad Few superficial rust spots that won't be too big of deal ( or expense ) to repair. I believe I recall hearing that T Rutlands offers the lower door skin sections. You can call them to confirm this. Also has a small dent on the front right nose section. A/C is not operative as the compressor is out of the car but comes with the car. It's an injected 2v model which means you won't exactly get wealthy some day from holding onto this car in your collection. However, IMO the injected cars can be considered as reliable daily drivers, and to me, driving them is what really matters. It could definitely benefit from some new shocks. Bushings appear to actually be in pretty good shape Then there's the never ending Magnum PI references you will have endure. The dreaded curse of all 3x8 owners!! Not certain if the euro models pass the emissions testing in all states. Here in AL we don't have those issues..so please investigate before you place a bid Now you know everything! All in all, this is a beautifully performing and ( hopefully) soon to be appreciating car that can be bought for less than the price of a well used Camry. Serious bidders.....Please call me at 205/ 586-4962 or send me a message with any questions about the car. Not interested in any low ball offers or trades..Thanks!
