Vehicle Detail
FOR SALE: 1969 Mercury Marauder X-100 with an N-code 429 engine. It has a dealer installed four barrel Holley #4452 carb. The engine and transmission were both rebuilt about 20 years ago and the car has been driven less than 700 miles since. The car runs very strong and has an incredible amount of power for a full sized stock production car. It has a 2.75:1 ratio rear differential in a 9' rear. When the car was refurbished 20 years ago it was stored inside a garage but after the owner passed away and the estate was settled it was parked outside for quite some time since and it is showing its age. I have the original bill of sale along with other documents. The body is fair but there is evidence of rust repair and bondo in both quarter panels, with both showing bubbling behind the wheel wells. The rest of the body appears in pretty good shape for the age and a new paint job would do wonders for it. The car has various nicks and scratches and the paint has chipped off the cowl cover and fuel door (galvanized parts). The interior is original and is probably about average for 41 years, with some minor wear on the drivers seat, and the carpet needs to be replaced. It has the original rim-blow wheel which does not work and a twin lounge seat. The wheels are original X-100 wheels. The two front center caps are original, the rear two are not original. Mechanically, the car is sound and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. It is not a show car though. To be a show car it will need a fair amount of work, but it is a nice-running driver. It shows around 53k miles and I feel sure the odometer has rolled over at some point in the past 41 years but I don't know for sure. The following have been replaced in the last 18 months or so: master cylinder, calipers and pads, wheel cylinders, rear shoes, tires (Michelin), fuel pump, fuel tank sending unit, valve cover gaskets, points, plugs, wires, power steering pump, thermostat, all radiator hoses, front shocks, and the carb was rebuilt. The headlight doors do not work well and as a result the doors remain open most of the time. I currently have them wired closed because I don't drive it a night anyway. These old Marauders are increasing in value and the X-100 is the most sought after Marauder from this era.
