Vehicle Detail
Good news: My son has just been inducted into the United States Naval Academy. Bad news: That means he has no use for his pride and joy, this beautiful 2002 Audi Quattro 3.0 sport sedan and he has therefore asked me to sell it for as much money as I can get for it, since he will not be allowed to have a car at the Academy until after his 2nd year. He purchased this car two years ago and put fewer than 10,000 miles on it. During that time, the following work was performed on it, all by either our local Audi dealer or a certified Audi mechanic: All ignition coils replaced under Audi's recall program; various repairs under front end of car as a result of a low-speed brush with a curb (hey, he was a novice driver at the time!); oil changes every 3,000 miles. Tires are in good shape-- I'd estimate good for at least another 5k miles. The car runs like a top and looks incredible. It's been very well maintained inside and out and recently thoroughly detailed. If I didn't already have a new car I'd probably keep this for myself because it's so much fun to drive. If you're familiar with this model, you probably already know that, but here's something just as important: This A4 is built like a tank, has front and side airbags for driver and passenger, ABS brakes and is one of the safest cars on the road, which is why we allowed our son to buy it in the first place. Options include Sport Package (paddle shifters, sport suspension, 17-inch wheels and some other cool stuff), Bose stereo with CD changer, heated front and rear seats, sunroof, driving lights, the brightest headlights I've ever seen (maybe Xenon, I'm not sure), ski bag, original first aid kit still in the rear center armrest, remote folding rear view mirrors, and more stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting to list. Shortly before he left, the wiper motor transmission went bad, which is why when the wipers aren't on, they remain at about a 70-degree angle when the car is being driven. That's not a big deal, but I had the repair estimated by the dealer and the cost to replace the wiper transmission motor is about $400. We decided to sell the car as is, figuring that a buyer can decide for himself/herself if it makes sense to make that investment. There are a couple of minor dings (see the photos) but the paint and body are otherwise beautiful. As you can see, we took a ton of photos of the car to minimize questions about it, but if you have any, please email me before bidding. I set the starting bid at a reasonable level based on what similar cars are selling for right now. Please do not bid if you have serious negative feedback. Good luck! If you're lucky enough to win this auction, you'll be getting a terrific car that will be much missed around here.On Jul-16-10 at 06:13:02 PDT, seller added the following information:Correction: As explained to the bidder, I made a math error. The car has 86,999 miles on it at the time of this auction listing, which means my son actually drove it 17,000 miles, not 10,000 miles, since he bought it. Sorry for the confusion.
