Vehicle Detail

We are selling our 1986 Jeep CJ-7 Laredo. I took this in on a trade a while back, and planned on making it a fun daily driver / off road toy. I really have too many cars and projects to give this little Jeep the attention it deserves. I was thinking V-8/automatic; my landlord thinks I have too many cars.. guess who wins? The good: it's a Wide Track CJ-7 RUST FREE! Beautiful frame (boxed from the factory! Clean CA title 4.2l straight 6 (115hp, 210 ft/lbs) (Ebay pre-populated the 2.5l thingy for some reason!) Hard Top Hard Doors Bikini Top Folding back seat Extra set (5 of them!) of ORIGINAL CJ rims and tires (31x10.5x15) Custom aluminum diamond plate rocker guards Dana 300 Transfer Case Borg Warner t-5 5-speed transmission Dana 30 front axle (3.54 gears) AM/FM/CD CB Radio Front off road lights Rear off road light Recently rebuilt rear end (AMC 20 with 3.54 gears) New weber carb Newer exhaust (header/cat/muffler) Aluminum Valve Cover New shocks New steering stabilizer New bushings Electric fuel pump Fuel pressure regulator a buncha extra misc. parts This Jeep is NOT currently CA smog legal because of the Weber carb and header. It'll fail the visual portion of the test. I have the stock parts if you would like to smog it (2bbl Carter bbs carb, exhaust manifold, aircleaner, etc). If high bidder is in CA, YOU will be responsible for smog. Jeep is currently registered and street legal in CA until October, 2010 The Jeep starts, runs, stops, and steers fine. The bad: It could use a real paint job. Looks good in the pics, but it's not a show winner by any means. The motor is making a top-end clattering sound (NOT a rod knock) that my mechanic believes is the timing chain. My buddy thinks it's the aluminum valve cover rubbing the rockers. I have not taken it apart to check.. but the truck still runs great. Good compression, plenty of power, no smoke, just a little loud. Thus the cheap price. Local buyers, feel free to come buy, check it out before you bid. I'll start it and take a cruise around the neighborhood with you. Real nice CJ, and really an easy project. If it doesn't sell, I'll take over my buddy's garage next month, do the V-8 swap, then sell it for a few thousand more... buy it now and save yourself some money! I'm happy to help ship this anywhere in the US. The economy is still down, so shippers are begging for vehicles to transport! Last car I sold went from San Diego to Le Roy NY for about a thousand bucks! It'll cost more than that to fix up the rusted Jeep Heap you have now!
