1998 Honda Civic Sedan - a most reliable vehicle that would be an excellent car for someone looking for cheap transportation.We have owned this vehicle since November of 2004. It has been almost problem free. It is my daughter car, and she is off to Florida, so we want to get her a newer vehicle.The car has some issues. Here is an honest appraisal: The speedometer works intermittently at best. This has been a problem since we bought it. My daughter learned to judge speed by the tachometer and didn't get any tickets. We are estimating that the car has at least 175,000 to 185,000 miles.The car has an electrical problem of some sort. The battery light will come on for a few minutes, then it goes off and everything is fine. We have had numerous people look at it and can't figure it out. We replaced the alternator and battery, but it didn't change anything. This probably happens once or twice a week at most. The air conditioning runs cold, but does "weaken" when the battery light comes on. It then recovers and works just fine. Kept the car cool in the recent 100 degree heat wave.There is a 12 disc JVC CD player mounted in the trunk. It isn't working. It turns on and scans the disks, but the music doesn't play. We have not had it looked at. It might just need some repair work. The radio works fine, but the signal range is not the greatest.The car is 12 years old. It has a couple of rust spots, and the roof is badly discolored (see the pictures!).Now On The Plus Side!: Starts up every time, idles smoothly, shifts smoothly, clutch doesn't slip at all, typical Civic type ride.Interior is in good above average condition for a car of this age. There is a small burn hole in the roof liner, a small tear (1 inch or so) in the sun visor, and the cup holder lid doesn't close.The car is inspected in Pennsylvania until April of 2011. It needed no work to pass inspection.The tires all match and are probably good for another 15,000 miles (see picture)Excellent Low-Cost Transportation!!
