Thanks for taking the time to look at this BMW....I am NOT the owner of this car, I am selling it for a good friend of mine who can no longer drive due to a stroke. I will do my best to describe this car and answer any questions about the car that you may have, but there is no guarantee that I will be able answer all detailed questions. 1997 BMW 740IL....really a great looking car for almost 14 yrs old now. My friend is the second owner of this car, and it has been babied since day one. Lots of highway miles....171000....and as to be expected with a car of this age and these miles, there are a few things to note. First...the good: The car runs great and looks great! A/C blows cold. Engine performs as it should. Transmission shifts smoothly and car tracks properly. No pulling from any direction, and brakes are solid. I think you would be hard pressed to find a car with this many miles and be in this good of condition. Just a week ago the oil and filter were changed, a new starter installed, and radiator hose replaced. The car has not been in any accidents. The body panels and frame are straight. All the manuals and most of the service records go with the car. We have them. The bad: The drivers side power seat and tilt/telescopic wheel do not function. My guess is that they are both on the same circuit. I don't know if that means it is a fuse blown, or another issue....again, not sure. The drivers side seat (leather) is worn pretty badly. It is mainly the left bolster portion where you slide in/out of the seat. I took a picture of it. There are some rust spots on the car. Three of them are smaller than the size of a quarter. The other two are under the rear tail lights. These are symmetrical on each side, so I am guessing it is a common rust area on the 740's. There are also some error codes popping up on the car. If you know anything about these codes, they are 130, 135, and 155. I am guessing these codes do not pertain to anything of GREAT importance as the car drives just fine. Lastly, as I am not familiar with all the bells and whistles that this car has. I cannot verify that all the electrical gadgets work. The phone for example....it is there, but unless you activiate it, there is no way to test it. The BMW computer....not really sure what it all does, so again, really no way for me to know if it is working properly. At this point in time, we can only find 1 key and key fob. We will keep looking for the second, but the high bidder should assume only 1 key and 1 key fob. Any questions please ask. If you want to see any specific photos, please ask. I will do my best to respond ASAP. The high bidder is responsible for any/all shipping expenses should you wish to have this car transported. If you would like to come pick it up, that is great as well! A $250.00 deposit is due within 24hrs of the auction ending (via paypal). The balance is due via money order, bank check, or cash before the car is released. Thanks again Mike New info....found a receipt from 8-21-09...new left side catalytic converter OBDT II with 2 year warranty.
