The BMW 635CSI at $45,000+, was pretty much the most expensive car BMW sold in 1986. It included their very best in performance and technology. This E24 is extremely original and unmolested. It is well documented, including service invoices and records, as well as the original bill of sale, going back to day one. This is a must for a true collector car as this is destined to be. I purchased this two years ago with intention of keeping it for the long haul but the the current state of the economy has me parting with many things I never intended too. I love this car but it must be sold and is priced accordingly. You will need to very little to make this car perfect. I expect that when the economy recovers this car will be worth 3 times what it is going to sell for here and much, much more than that in the future. The exterior is in really great condition with only minor body imperfections including a ding in the hood and slight crease by the rear of the passenger door. The paint is better than average. The emblems, unlike most, are unfaded and perfect. This car includes the rare rubber, factory rear trunk spoiler. It has what I believe are Borbet wheels on and also includes the original factory wheels. The original spare rim with the original un-used Michelin tire mounted to it is in the trunk. The interior includes the optional Recaro Sport power seats and rear sunshade The front seats include power adjustable leg bolsters and headrests. These are extremely comfortable and a great upgrade from the standard seats you see on most of these cars. They are in great condition with only a slight opening on the drivers outside bolster. If you know these cars you know that the rear shade clips are almost always broke. These are not and the shade works fine. The dash has a few cracks as pictured. There is a vinyl cover that is available on ebay for around $100.00 that I understand is a perfect fit. The car comes with a rug cover to stop the sun from making this any worse. The rugs, panels and the rest of interior is very clean. The headliner, as with most of these cars is yellowed. The interior of the trunk is pristine and includes the original lid mounted tool kit with the original tools. The Blaupunkt radio is original and actually sounds great but at times it lights but decides not to make sound. This car came with a diagnostic on board computer that monitors lighting, coolant level and windshield washer level. It also has a service inteval indicator that monitors key engine functions to produce accurate recommendations, based on actual driving, for oil service and major inspections. Both of these computers function as designed. There is also an on board computer that moniters milege, driving range, time and date, stop watch and outside temperature (warns of ice). This system works fine but the display is dull and needs to be replaced. These were used in the 7 series as well and are typically easy to find for sale on Ebay. Dash lighting has been upgraded from 3 to 5 watt bulbs. All other interior and exterior lighting, power antenna, and all other electrics work fine. The engine is 3.4l and is powerful and runs great with no smoke or issues. These BMW in line 6 motors are considered " bullet proof". The automatic transmission is a 4 speed electronic ZF unit that includes the electronic sport and economy settings as well as a Limited Slip Differential. This transmission has been rebuilt at a cost of over $2000.00, in the last 200 miles and shifts like new. Between the previous owner and myself there has been a concerted effort to take care of any nagging issues that these cars have. Repairs and precautionary work done since 2008 include new thrust arms, drop links, springs, DME, fuel and other relays, blower transistors, upgraded water temperature sensors, flushed brake system, flushed coolant systems, gas tank dropped and flushed out, new rear gas lines, new coil, belts, heater valve, ignition wires, plugs, cap, rotor, battery, dash bulbs, brake pads and rotors, LF Caliper, and more. As mentioned earlier the transmission is fresh and was done shortly before I put this car away for winter storage. I took this car for a pre-sale inspection and my mechanic told me all is well with the exception of the catalytic converter. If purchased for the Buy It Now price I will have it replaced at my expense. He also says that the tires are getting dry and should be replaced soon. He put on fresh wiper blades, charged the AC and confirmed that the system was not leaking. All in all this is a very, very solid 6 series with all the typical areas of concern addressed. As with any 25 year old car it is being sold as is. It is not perfect but you would be hard very hard pressed to find a better one, or one with as much addressed as myself and the prior owner have addressed. I personally am into this car for over $8000.00 since I purchased it in June of 2008. Again I had no thoughts of selling it and wanted it to be mechanically perfect and reliable. In my opinion you could drive this car across the country without any issue. I have priced this car low for a quick sale. Buy this one with no regrets. Thanks and Happy Bidding!
