Vehicle Detail

1965 All numbers matching big block 390 300 HP Thunderbird! Fully loaded with power steering, power brakes, AC, throw away steering, power windows, and much much more. If you're serious about owning one of the greatest Fords on the planet, then please give me a call as I do have this Thunderbird for sale locally and I will be canceling bids and ending the auction early should it sell prior to the auction ending. So bid strong, bid often, and bid with confidence! We are ready to deal on this Thunderbird to please feel free to call Shawn at 816.308.0351 or Nick at 816.694.0190. We actually obtained this Thunderbird six months ago from a gentleman in Topeka Kansas. It had belonged to an elderly gentleman for the better part of three decades. He had a fairly large collection of classic automobiles which he had compiled over the entire duration of his life. Unfortunately, he had passed in the late 90's, not long after this Thunderbird had been completed. The person who we purchased the Thunderbird from is who obtained it from his estate. I will tell you that the most intriguing aspect of this Thunderbird is the fact that it is an all original sheet metal car. It had been stored away since the early 70's until finally in the mid 90's it under went its first and only restoration. I must say that this Thunderbird is one of the nicest driving automobiles from that era that I have ever driven. It does need some minor TLC but nothing major. It has just sat for so long. I can assure anyone who is interested that they will not find another T Bird of this caliber for what we are asking. Body: The body on this Thunderbird is completely solid. The floors, trunk pan, trunk extensions, trunk lid, roof, rear window sill, front cowl, fenders, doors, rockers, every bit of sheet metal is solid and free of bondo. There is no bubbling or rust through out any of the exterior sheet metal. The underside does have some minor surface rust but it is completely solid underneath. The Thunderbird has under gone one repaint and it was done with a traditional lacquer. It was done professionally and you will not find any runs, spider webbing, or any major blemishes through out the paint. What you will find are some very minor rock chips but they are very few. All of the chrome through out the Thunderbird is in tact and is in fairly good shape. There are some areas where you will find some light scratches and some tarnishing but as you will notice in the photos below it all shines up very nicely. All of the emblems are there and they are in good shape with the exception of the rear emblem on the passenger side quarter. It is cracked but could be easily repaired. I also only have three hubcaps at the moment. When I was driving it a few days ago, I'd lost one of the hubcaps because it was not secure. Engine & Mechanical: The motor within this Thunderbird is the original 390/300 HP. It is in good running condition. I do believe there is a small leak coming from the passenger side valve cover or the power steering pump but something is lightly dripping down on to the manifold. It is not heavy but it will need to be addressed at some point. The transmission is also original and it too is in good mechanical condition. It shifts out smoothly and quietly with ease. We were told by the previous owner that since the motor and transmission were swapped, that the Thunderbird has only had about 3k miles put on it. Most all of the electrical components are in good working order. The windshield wiper setup, power steering, power brakes, speedometer, gas gauge, temperature gauge, head lights, the air/ heat controls are in good working order, all of these items are in good working order. What items do need to be addressed are the power windows, turn signals, brake lights, and the starter solenoid. I do have a brand new one which I will be sending with the car. I might even go ahead and get it put in before it leaves. For now we have just been jumping the solenoid. The other items actually worked when we obtained the car but we have not done much with the car since bringing it home six months ago. It has pretty much just sat up until a few days ago. So unfortunately, I only have three of them at the moment. The brake and gas pedal will need to be adjusted at some point. I also have all new decals/stickers for both the engine bay and the trunk area. One item I did just replace was the fuel line. It was clogged and you will notice that when I took the photos of the under side, it was still hanging. It has since been put up properly. Interior: The interior as you will see is all there but will need some attention in areas. The drivers side seat has a couple of spots where it is starting to come apart at the seams. The back seat is actually in pretty good shape with the exception of stain on the fold down console. The same stain can also be found on front old down console. Some of the chrome through out the interior is tarnished and has some pitting but it is in fair condition. As you will notice, there is no radio and unfortunately I do not have one. It was missing when we obtained the Thunderbird. The drivers side arm rest also needs to be redone or replaced. Other than those items, the rest of the interior is in fairly good condition. The dash is in excellent condition. The gauge cluster is also in good shape. This is a truly remarkable piece of history and I can assure anyone who is interested that they will be more than pleased with how nice this Thunderbird is. Granted, it is not a trailer queen but it is an exceptionally nice automobile. I know that in order to get one to where ours is at today, could easily run you 25k or more. So here is your chance to pick up one for a fraction of that cost. I will gladly listen to all reasonable offers and should the right one come along then I will in fact sell the car early as we do have it for sale "locally". I strongly encourage anyone who is interested to please call or email to schedule a time to come check it out. I would also like to add that I am usually on the phone from 7 AM until about 12 AM so you are always welcome to call and if I do not answer, just leave a message and I will return your call immediately. I know from my own experience with purchasing cars online, most of the time it is very difficult to get someone on the phone and to obtain the information you need. So I try to always stay on top of emails and phone calls. We do have a clear title for this Thunderbird. As always, good luck and happy bidding!
