Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a running MANX SR kit car built on a swing axle style VW pan that was built and registered in California in 1973. The kit number is 1001 (see data plate picture). The brakes were recently gone thru and the car is driven on the street regularly. I'm selling it to make room for another car project. The car comes with the original build manual, an original sales brochure, and some old newsletters from the Manx Club. The engine is a single port with an unknown number of miles. It seems to fun fine and starts right up every time. I've only had to do basic maintenance on it in the 5 years I've owned the car. The transaxle is getting a little hard to shift but that may be the vintage Hurst shifter or maybe the old coupling in the shift linkage. The transaxle itself seems fine; it's more a problem with the linkage. Overall, the body is in good shape with some scratches and gel coat chips here and there. The only really bad spot is the left front corner where the fiberglass will need repair (see photo). The paint color is original and part of the fiberglass body. One of the rear bumpers and the hood badge is missing in the photos but I still have both of them. This is a great car for cruising the beach. All the VW parts are still avaliable and cheap! You will get alot of looks in this car and it's easy on gas.
