Sorry everyone, but now I have to say this first...IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY...PLEEEASE DON'T BID!!! IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION...AT LEAST COME SEE THE CAR!!! IF YOU SEE IT, YOU'LL WANT IT!!! I am relisting due to a nonpaying bidder! Look at the other 70 and 71 Tbirds on here. My price is incredibly fair, for a car that is nicer than the $10,000 ones. Thanks! Now that I've gotten that out... Hi, you are bidding on an absolutely beautiful, numbers matching 1970 T-Bird. The car has 67,000 original miles and is in excellent shape. This car is as close to a "rust free" T-Bird as you are likely to find. Check out the pics of the inner quarter panels and under the hood. NO RUST! It has had one repaint in the original Wimbledon white, (about 6-7 years ago) and still has original (and clean) paint inside the trunk and door jambs. The chrome is all in great shape with the exception of the small, rear eyebrows on the corner of the taillights, which have small dings and tarnish. But these are the same from 1967-1971, I believe, and should be easy to find. The rest of the trim is in great shape, including the bumpers. The grill has been "blacked out" and I like the way it looks but in case you don't, another excellent condition grill is included. The rims are American Racing Torque Thrusts and are excellent. The tires shown have about 90% wear left. It looks great with these wheels. The underneath is as clean as the top and there are NO engine or tranny leaks. There is a newer dual exhaust system and the car sounds absolutely incredible. Check out the chome pipes out the back. No lifter noise or any other noises that don't belong. The original 429 Thunderjet 4 barrel runs extremely strong. (factory 360 HP and 480 ft/lb of torque...that's right 480...and that's at 2800 rpm...it's a monster) And with 67,000 miles, the C-6 tranny shifts perfect and the brakes work like they should. I drive the car whenever it's nice out and the car draws LOTS of attention. It really is nice. The black vinyl top is in NEW condition. It is perfect. Not ripped, peeled or faded anywhere. It is only outdone by the interior, which, although 40 years old, is incredible. The seats are flawless, the headliner is flawless, the dash pad is flawless. The door panels and arm rests have avoided the usual rips and tears and are in great shape. One small mark on passenger door panel. The carpet is an 9 out of 10. The steering wheel has the usual hairlines of a 40 year old car. The heater works fine on low and medium but the fan does not work on high. The AC compressor is disconnected but the original parts are included. All the dash gauge lights work (how rare is that?) as well as the door, and rear courtesy lights. The sequential turn signals and tail lights still work. Someone installed an aftermarket Panasonic AM FM CD but it shows well. Battery is a brand new Die Hard. Obviously this is not a "show car" as it is an "original" 40 year old car. But, with some minor attention, it could be. So, as far as "what issues there are". The fuel gauge does not work, probably the sender. The clock works most of the time. The power windows are temperamental. I believe it might be the relay because when they work, they all work, and when they don't, none of them do. The driver's side mirror doesn't seem correct for the car, but I might be wrong. It doesn't look right but works fine. Window weather stripping is dry and could used to be replaced. Thats it! The car came from Florida and has always been garaged here in NY. I am in rural, upstate NY, not near the city. NY is a non-title state for pre 1973 vehicles, so the sale is a Bill of Sale and signed Registration. The car is currently registered and insured. There is no warranty whatsoever and the car is sold "as is" I encourage and welcome inspection and will do whatever I can to fascilitate showing the car. Shipping and/or transporting is the buyer's responsibility but I will assist in the loading and help any way I can. I live close to Interstate 87 so it should be easy. A $500 deposit is due within 72 hours with the balance due in 7 days from auction end. I am flexible with payment method but all checks must clear before I release the car. I am not a car dealer, just a car guy, if I could keep this car I definitely would but I currently have a '71 Torino GT convertible that I am restoring and have limited space. My loss is your opportunity to own a really great car. Any questions...just ask! No disappointments here at this price...see my feedback. The starting bid is the reserve. The car is nice and priced to sell, so bid high and often :) Thanks, Bob S. 06/01/10 OK...Lots of questions so let's answer them. The pic of the inner trunk lid are to show the only rust on the car. The picture makes it look darker than it is but, at any rate, it is only surface rust... and would sand right off. The paint there, under the trunk is all original and has flaked off leaving that surface rust area. The yellowish color on the inner quarter panel pics is factory rustproofing...still there...still working. There is NO rot on this car. The car runs excellent...three pumps on the peddle and it starts instantly. Warm it for one minute (when cold) and drive away. Runs nice and cool. Any other questions please ask and I will email and post the answers. If more pics would help, just send me an email address. Thanks all, Bob S On Jun-14-10 at 16:59:45 PDT, seller added the following information: OK bidders, let's sweeten the pot. If the winning bid is over $6500.00, I will include a brand new set of 15" Magnum 500s with Ford Crest center caps. The back wheels are 15x8 and have BF Goodrich Radial T/A s 255/60/15 and the Fronts are 15x7 with 235/60/15s. These are all BRAND NEW and have never seen the road. I was saving them for my Torino but will include them to the winner in addition to those on the car if the bid reaches $6500.00. I will even mount them on the car if the winner wishes. That's almost $2000.00 worth of wheels and tires! I've added a pic of the rims and tires...don't let this deal get away!!!! Thanks! Bob On Jun-14-10 at 19:23:58 PDT, seller added the following information: See the new pic of the wheels and T/AsOn Jun-17-10 at 12:20:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi folks, sorry to have to vent again but this has not been the joyous experience that I thought it would. :) Are there really people who do nothing all day but look through ebay and pick apart people's listings? And then ask the most unbelievable questions imaginable? Where do I get one of those jobs? I initially intended to post all questions and answers for everyone's benefit. But when the first email said..."beautiful car, I can't afford it please give me a call..." (no lie!) And then he actually placed the winning bid on my first auction! And guess what...he was right, he couldn't afford it and didn't even bother to come see the car. I SWEAR ! Anyway, for all of you who asked really good questions and even taught me a few things, I apologize. Real questions are always welcome. But in the interest of fairness I had better repeat...This is not a showcar. It is a really great daily driver and cruise night car and would probably even take a trophy or two at your local shows. But it's 40 years old. I cannot guarantee a trip across the country. I wouldn't guarantee that in my 2009 Dodge. I cannot guarantee that you won't have to fix something in the next ten years. It might happen. I understand the uncertainty of ebay, but just look at it this way...if I was selling a low mileage 1970 429 Thunderjet motor, 360 HP from the factory, hooked up to a C6 tranny that shifts like new...what would I be asking? Now, take that engine and tranny, and I will wrap it in a rust free southern body of a 1970 T-bird. The sportsroof model to boot! And, I'll even give you a set of American Racing Torque Thrusts just for fun. Really...how can you go wrong? So please, if you don't want it, don't bid. If you're not going to bid...keep your criticism...thanks to all, Bob
