Vehicle Detail
Thank you for taking a minute to view this exceptional Wolfsburg Carat Vanagon. If you are familiar with these vehicles you undoubtedly are aware of how special they truly are. This Wolfsburg Carat has been in our family for a few years and we’re sad to see her change hands. As my daughter gets closer to getting her drivers license, it makes me a bit nervous to have a vehicle with a bed in the back. You know what I’m sayin’. I’ve gone through this spectacular bus from top to bottom and have really enjoyed keeping her as stock and immaculate as possible. There are a few changes made which only prove to have added value to the Carat. The engine was completely rebuilt at 150K miles by our local VeeDub gurus (Blazer Automotive), the windscreen (and seal) was replaced early ’09, windows were professionally tinted in late ’08, new(er) Mega-Tron II Interstate Battery, load rated 185R14C tires (<3K miles on them), professionally installed Kenwood KDC-X491 stereo with remote (iPod doc in glove box and UBS in face), Kenwood KAC-622 amp and 6 (six) Kenwood speakers throughout. The paint is OG and really looks great. Nicks and scratches are definitely minor with the exception of a dent in the passenger front by turn signal and the typical door scrape/slight push-in (see pics) at the rear of the sliding door. No undercarriage or seam rust what so ever as this was an AZ and CA bus before we brought her to CO. Small bit of rust just beginning to form at the bottom of the rear window seal (driver’s side), super common and easy to repair. Have unopened VW paint touch up for the job, figured the winning bidder would want the project. Check out those mud flaps, can’t go wrong with those. The interior is in exceptional condition with an unscarred headliner, unstained upholstery, clean table, all seatbelts (seats 7), all five flip down cup holders, all arm wrests (one of which needs to be installed) and the OG carpet is also clean & un-torn. Bed folds down perfectly and all curtains remain with the Carat and are in fantastic condition. The only flaw in any of the seats is a small burn mark on the driver side (jumpy seed? dropped cherry?) which was there when I bought the bus and is/has not expanded. The light above the table does need a new bulb as well. No smells, rips, tears, or missing parts. The Wolfsburg Carat currently has 159,218 miles and runs beautifully. The A.C. was charged in the spring of ’08 and blows cool but could stand another recharge. Tow kit is installed and included. The electric windows work but are temperamental so we haven’t been using them. The brakes have just been inspected and are good. Cruise control does not work, as per usual. Have a load of receipts, most of the big stuff, so you’ll have those for your records in the future. I’d not have any problem driving from Denver to Anchorage to Buenos Aires and back today. Whoever the fortunate winning bidder is, regardless if they win this Carat for $1.90 or $19,000.00, will be pleased for years. Equally as good for a daily driver or a collectable which is entirely up to you. The other bonus is that, regardless of what the economy does, you’ll have a means of transportation AND a place to live in this Wolfsburg Carat. I’ve owned a ’63 23 window, ’67 camper, a couple of Syncros and a Eurovan and this 1990 Wolfburg Carat is as fun and enjoyable as any of the others. Please know this bus is being listed locally and is sold as-is. Bidding starts at $.99, NO RESERVE! Winning bidder pays $500.00 deposit within 24 hours, remaining balance when they take receipt of the vehicle. Anyone with <10 bid history, please contact me before bidding. Good luck and enjoy!
