Vehicle Detail
I bought this truck about 3 years ago and restored it. Since then its been sitting in the garage although it has been out for an occasional ride. However my wife would like to put her Mustang in the garage so I need to find a good home for old Red. Now in the description, when I say "new" that means that had the work done or added the part about the time of the restoration. Since that time the truck would have gotten 2,000 to 4,000 miles put on it. Also, about the restoration: I didn't go nuts and try to turn it into a show truck. I was after a driver that looked great. The problem with that was that it still looked too good for a driver in my mind, so its been garaged, but that's how you should consider it. All the work was professionally done, but the paint for instance is not flawless. So here goes... It was painted, two-tone with a clear-coat. New tires and rims. New windshield. New upholstery. New clutch and brakes. New timing components. Electronic ignition. Flowmaster dual exhaust. New Edelbrock 1406 carb. By the way, the engine is a 390 with plenty of power. I got 15.38 mpg on my last highway trip at 60-65 mph. All the glass is good. The driver's door could use a little adjustment. She starts, runs, stops and steers great. There is a small oil leak I haven't tracked down yet. Most of the gauges work. It needs a speedo cable so I will throw a Garmin GPS (used) into the deal. As far as actual mileage on the truck I have no idea. If I think of more things I will add it later. Feel free to ask questions. From June 18-27 the truck will not be available for pick up, but any other time is fine. The winning bidder will need to post a $500 deposit to hold the truck until you pick it up, then the rest in cash or cashiers check. Old Red can make it across the country no prob in my opinion. Obviously I have a lot more invested in it that I'm asking, but I would like a quick sale if possible. You can also email me at ratorrey2003@yahoo.com or call 928-978-3588 with questions. Thanks for looking! On Jun-08-10 at 14:03:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Three additional things I thought of... 1. There is some chrome that has peeled from the front bumper, although the underlying steel matches it pretty well. That is why its hard to see in the photo. 2. About the $500 deposit (to be paid by PayPal). Let's say you fly across the country to buy old red and for some reason when you get here it just doesn't feel right for whatever reason. Well, then you can feel free to fly back home and there will be no hard feelings. But I will still have the auction and selling and re-listing fees as well as PayPal fees...so I won't be able to refund a deposit. Also, suppose you arrive and for what ever reason want to renegotiate the price. I can't do that either. But you can refuse it if you like. No problem there. 3. I will do everything I can to see that she is stocked and ready for a road trip. Some basic tools, water, oil, jack, whatever else I can think of...including my old Garmin GPS with the US atlas; basically the usual stuff I would carry in it for a road trip. And even though I would drive across the country without hesitation, I can't guarantee or waranty the vehicle for you- although we can go over it tooth and nail before you leave if you like. If your flight is at a time that I can work into my schedule, I will meet you at the Phoenix Airport with the truck if you like. Also, remember that the truck will not be available from June 18-27 as I will be on vacation. Thats about all I can think of for right now, other that that several of you have asked if it has disc brakes and power steering. And being the real deal vintage truck she most certainly does not. I might add that the only air conditioning she has is..."windows down." Thanks for all the calls and questions and may she go to a really good home! On Jun-10-10 at 21:33:59 PDT, seller added the following information: As the auction nears its close I want to say that its been great talking to all of you who have called. Many of you are thinking of driving her to the east coast; and as I said before, I think she would do it without a problem. At least I would do it. But please remember that I can't guarantee that. In other words, its my opinion. The engine runs strong and smooth and I don't know of any problems I haven't told you about. But keep in mind that it is not a newly rebuilt engine but a good running older one. The other question I'm getting is, how is the bed? Its fine. It was painted when the truck was done but there are a few scrapes and a place or two I repainted on a spot or two. I will try to post some pics Friday night or Saturday morning. Also, the tool box will be going with the truck in the action. And the radio works but needs a speaker wire hooked up. If there is enough time between the sale and pick up, I will do it for you. I will also put road trip basics in the tool box. And don't forget how hot the AZ summers are. That's all I can think of right now, but keep the questions coming and I will try to address them ASAP. Thanks! On Jun-11-10 at 14:52:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 BED: Several of you have asked to see the bed so I took a pic for you. You might see some spots where I repainted because I hauled stuff from time to time and scraped the paint. RUST: I have been saying that I've never seen rust on it. That is, until today. There are three sites. Two of them are under the truck on a reinforcing channel that runs from side to side near the rear of the cab. Apparently water gets trapped in the channel. It looks like and easy fix. The other one is a small hole on a piece of metal that hangs down from the rear of the cab. That’s it as far as I can see. FINAL AUCTION STATISTICS AND RESERVE: Some have asked how much the reserve is and I haven’t kept it a secret, but I want to be fair to everyone, so here are the latest statistics on the auction: 3749 Page views 16 bids 146 people watching the auction $7499.99 reserve FINAL NOTES: If there are any questions or you would like to be on a list for a second chance offer later (should that come about) send your name and phone no. etc. to ratorrey2003@yahoo.com or contact through ebay. I will be working in the morning, so if you have last minute questions, call me at 928-978-3588 Thanks and good luck! P.S. I don’t know if I can or not, but I may pull the Buy-it-Now option off later tonight.
