Vehicle Detail

enjoy this 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria ... this is the kind of car that's makes everyone smile and wave as you go cruising by! this 2 door hardtop Fairlane Victoria features the Continental Kit ( "extended rear" with additional spare tire). the Continental Kit gives the Fairlane Victoria that unique extra long, extra cool look! note: as currently configured, the dual exhaust terminates before the rear bumper, and does not pass through the "exhaust outlets" in the rear bumper. paint: going on information from the prior owner, I would guess that this car was painted about 18-20 years ago. Overall, the paint is in very good condition. However, is does have some chips, flaws, and imperfections. In my opinion, this is a very nice looking ride... but, it does NOT have what I would consider to be a "showroom quality" finish. chrome: to my knowledge, all of the chrome and stainless trim on the car is original, and none has been "refinished. As you can see, after 50+ years, the rear bumper is now showing considerable "pitting" (surface rust) through the chrome. interior: the interior is clean, and in very good condition overall. there is some fading to the fabric on the front seats, and the sun visors are somewhat "puffy" (deformed). Similar to the exterior, the interior paint does have some imperfections. We added a seatbelt to the center of the rear seat, to secure our daughter's car seat for Sunday cruising. the Fuel Gauge on the console reads backwards (shows "empty" when the car is full, and shows "full" when the car is empty). engine: the V8 Thunderbird engine runs well, and smooth. we replaced the points with an Ignitor "electronic ignition". also, we installed a new carburetor "kit" (new needle & seat, etc...) about 2 years ago. the engine tends to run a little "rich" when cold; but, I'm not much of a mechanic, so you might be able to tweak the carb better then me. the Battery is new (purchased this year). as you can see in the photos, the engine compartment could benefit from a good clean-up/dress-up... (that's been on my "to do" list, but I can't seem to find the time). trunk full 'o goodies... all of these items are included with the car: * 1956 Owner's Manual (appears to be original) * 1956 Ford Car Shop Manual (reprint) * Fairlane Tin Sign (still in the shrinkwrap) * Matchbox die-cast '56 Ford Fairlane, with box and certificate * Revell Ford Fairlane Sunliner "Modern Car Kit" model car (still in the shrinkwrap) * binder with many records, titles, and maintenance receipts for the car; dating back to 1977 * new Trunk Lid Emblem with "V" metal trim. I thought this would look cool on the rear tire cover, but I never found the time to install it. * new red "See Clear" Washer Bag for the engine compartment (not pictured) * new Key Blanks for making duplicate keys (not pictured) Please ask all questions before bidding; the car is offered "as is", and all sales are final. I don't consider myself to be a "car guy" or an expert, but I will be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability. All information is this listing is believed to be accurate and complete, to the best of our ability. However, we do NOT make any guarantees, and will NOT be liable for any errors or omissions. On Jun-02-10 at 19:09:54 PDT, seller added the following information: After I posted the auction yesterday, I thought of some more information that I felt should be added to the description, so here goes... windows: I think that all of the glass on the car is original, and it is in really nice condition. there is a chip in the front windshield that is about the size of a dime.; it's located near the rearview mirror, so it does not aggravate the driver or passengers since it's not in your normal "line of sight". that chip was present when I acquired the car several years ago... so far, it has not shown any signs of enlarging or cracking. exhaust: sometimes (not often) the exhaust will rattle a bit at idle; so I suspect that there is a loose or poorly fitted connection or bracket somewhere along the exhaust system. front suspension: in 2007, we installed new Shock Absorbers, and replaced lots of "wear" items on the front suspension, including: tie rod ends/cups/sleeves, idler arm bushings, ball joints, control arm bushings & bumpers, and stabilizer bar ends & insulators. On Jun-02-10 at 19:22:00 PDT, seller added the following information: hubcaps: the hubcaps look nice, but they do have some dings & dents in them.On Jun-04-10 at 17:34:02 PDT, seller added the following information: windshield wipers: since I have owned the car, we have only driven it on sunny days, and I had never used the windshield wipers. I tried them today, and they will move up toward the top, but don't complete the full cycle. so, it looks like they need some servicing, or possibly a new wiper motor. radio: the original radio still works (turns on and has sound); but, something is loose or broken in the "tuner" mechanism, because the radio is stuck on one frequency.
