Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE!!! Hi, you are bidding on an absolutely beautiful, numbers matching 1970 T-Bird. The car has 67,000 original miles and is in excellent shape. This car is as close to a "rust free" T-Bird as you are likely to find. Check out the pics of the inner quarter panels and under the hood. NO RUST! There are maybe two or thee spots on the car where you will see very minor surface rust. It has had one repaint in the original Wimbledon white, (about 6-7 years ago) and still has original (and clean) paint inside the trunk and door jambs. The chrome is all in great shape with the exception of the small, rear eyebrows on the corner of the taillights, which have small dings and tarnish. But these are the same from 1967-1971, I believe, and should be easy to find. The rest of the trim is in great shape, including the bumpers. The grill has been "blacked out" and I like the way it looks but in case you don't, another excellent condition grill is included. The rims are American Racing Torque Thrusts and are excellent. The tires shown have about 90% wear left. It looks great with these wheels. The underneath is as clean as the top and there are NO leaks. There is a newer dual exhaust system and the car sounds absolutely incredible. Check out the chome pipes out the back. The original 429 Thunderjet 4 barrel runs extremely strong. And with 67,000 miles, the C-6 tranny shifts perfect and the brakes work like they should. I drive the car whenever it's nice out and the car draws LOTS of attention. It really is nice. The black vinyl top is in NEW condition. It is perfect. Not ripped, peeled or faded anywhere. It is only outdone by the interior, which, although 40 years old, is incredible. The seats are flawless, the headliner is flawless, the dash pad is flawless. The door panels and arm rests have avoided the usual rips and tears and are in great shape. One small mark on passenger door panel. The carpet is an 8 out of 10. The steering wheel has the usual hairlines of a 40 year old car. The heater works fine on low and medium but the fan does not work on high. The AC compressor is disconnected but the original parts are included. All the dash gauge lights work (how rare is that?) as well as the door, and rear courtesy lights. The sequential turn signals and tail lights still work. Someone installed an aftermarket Panasonic AM FM CD but it shows well. Battery is a brand new Die Hard. Obviously this is not a "show car" as it is an "original" 40 year old car. But, with some minor attention, it could be a gem. So, as far as "what issues there are". The fuel gauge does not work, probably the sender. The clock works most of the time. The power windows are temperamental. I believe it might be the relay because when they work, they all work, and when they don't, none of them do. The driver's side mirror doesn't seem correct for the car, but I might be wrong. It doesn't look right but works fine. Window weather stripping is dry and could used to be replaced. The car came from Florida and has always been garaged here in NY. I am in rural, upstate NY, not near the city. NY is a non-title state for pre 1973 vehicles, so the sale is a Bill of Sale and signed Registration. The car is currently registered and insured. There is no warranty whatsoever and the car is sold "as is" I encourage and welcome inspection and will do whatever I can to fascilitate showing the car. Shipping and/or transporting is the buyer's responsibility but I will assist in the loading and help any way I can. I live close to Interstate 87 so it should be easy. A $500 non refundable deposit is due within 72 hours with the balance due in 7 days from auction end. I am flexible with payment method but all checks must clear before I release the car. I am not a car dealer, just a car guy, if I could keep this car I definitely would but I currently have a '71 Torino GT convertible that I am restoring and have limited space. My loss is your opportunity to own a really great car. Any questions...just ask! No disappointments here at this price...see my feedback. The starting bid is the reserve. The car is nice and priced to sell, so bid high and often :) Thanks, Bob S. 06/01/10 OK...Lots of questions so let's answer them. The pic of the inner trunk lid are to show the only rust on the car. The picture makes it look darker than it is but, at any rate, it is only surface rust...very shallow, and would sand right off. The paint there, under the trunk is all original and has flaked off leaving that surface rust area. The yellowish color on the inner quarter panel pics is factory rustproofing...still there...still working. There is NO rot on this car. The car runs excellent...three pumps on the peddle and it starts instantly. Warm it for one minute (when cold) and drive away. Runs nice and cool. Any other questions please ask and I will email and post the answers. If more pics would help, just send me an email address. Thanks all, Bob S
