Nice Fun vehicle to the right person. After 10 years and 115K I have to let this baby go to someone with the ability and means to fix the leak in the radiator. The fix according to the mechanic yesterday would involve a $200 replacement radiator but add in the labor and it's a $600 bill. The mechanic also said he saw a coolant leak at the intake manifold of at the engine. He recommended - while the car was apart - spending an extra $100 for a new water pump that MAY be ok but if it did fail and you had to bring it back in....the labor would get you more than the part. At 80K the head gasket blew and the engine had a complete fix. A/C condensor replaced 100K. The mechanic says the engine is still in good shape. Just installed 3 year battery. Oil changed religiously every 3K. Kept up with Pontiak recommended service throughout life of vehicle. Kelley Blue book puts the value about $2495 and the mechanic said the repairs would be around $1500 so I'm looking to get $800 out of the vehicle. Scrap yard will pay $500 but I'd rather not do that - I'd rather find her a new home. Car drives fine right now - you wouldn't know there's a problem unless you drove on the interstate or for an extended period. The mechanic said it'd be fine for short trips but with only 6lbs of pressure in the coolant system it would overheat for any longer trips. It drives and camps great. Sunroof works as new as does the killer TEN speaker sound system with AM/FM/CASSETTE/CD. P.S. I clicked on the ebay link that showed this car was in an accident = fender bender a few years ago. My vehicle needed no work and I paid $350 for paintwork to the other car owner. The young driver complained of 'neck pain' and insisted we wait 90 minutes for a police report...her mom quashed this 'pain' attempt and just asked for paint money. Also note slight dents in back gate (from coasting into the back of a spare tire on a parked RAV4) that do not affect the functioning of the back window/hatch.
