Vehicle Detail
Millennium Edition (2000) Porsche Carrera 4 Immaculate condition, with fewer than 70,000 miles, this rare car (Porsche built only 911 of them, of which this is number 333) has been impeccably maintained (with references) by the same mechanic who has for years maintained my vintage and exotic cars. Every service and all maintenance performed on time and by the book. Long time PCA member, former American driver in the European Porsche Super Cup series, with multiple references for cars, motorcycles and other high-end items bought and sold on eBay. This car is one of many in my garage, so is driven primarily for highway trips in good weather. It has the standard list of options that were particular to the Millennium Edition, from the paint (Porsche calls it violet chromoflair, though in most light it appears to be very dark grey), to the natural leather with wood accents interior, sunroof, alcantra/suede headliner, CD changer, navigation and communication systems, limited edition wheels, dash plaque, to the special "911" logo on the rear. When Porsche introduced the Millennium Edition, the factory said this of the car: "In recognition of its unique place in motoring history, Porsche has created a special limited edition of the 911 to mark a unique moment in world history: the Porsche 911 Millennium. Inside and out, it's more individual, more exclusive, and more stunningly elegant than ever before. It also comes complete with almost all of the special equipment options available for the standard 911 range. Including four-wheel drive, unique exterior paintwork, natural leather interior, dark burr maple trim and Porsche Communication Management. A sports car in which every last detail is imbued with the spirit of individuality and elegance that has always been the hallmark of Porsche." The car is professionally detailed (with references) by the leading detail shop in Chicago every month, and is stored in a climate controlled garage both at home and at the office. A no-excuses car that is ready to be driven everywhere. The GT2 nose (installed with the accompanying side aero kit) was recently resprayed to get rid of typical front road rash (it's a little low, and so, it picks up more than the average 911). Never been smoked in. The interior is very clean, with just a slight patina on the front seats, and essentially no wear on the rear seats. The steering wheel and shift knob have cracks in the wood varnish that all Porsche wood of that era has. Unlike most Millennium Edition cars, this one does not have those cracks on any of the other interior wood. Everything works as it should. A/C blows cold, the heated seats get warm quickly, windows and sunroof open and close quickly. No known problems of any kind. The tires are in perfect condition, with around 70% of their tread life remaining. I bought the car from a fellow PCA member. Original books and documents included in sale, as are the original tools and factory compressor. Though exceptional in every way, the car is not perfect. I have tried to photograph some of the flaws (all minor) that are indicative of the car's ten years and associated miles. There is a small flaw in the paint on the bumper cover under the "911" logo on the rear of the car. There are small scratches on the levers for the hood and trunk releases on the floor next to the driver's seat (from dragging one's foot across the sill entering and exiting). The fuel filler door has a small imperfection under the hinge (I notice it every time I fill up). The special edition wheels are nearly perfect, but I have taken pictures of the individual small chips that have been repaired. The driver's door trailing edge has a couple of very small chips (pictured), and there is a small (1"), light scratch on the right rear fender (I couldn't get it to show in photos). Finally, there are light scratches on the outside of the passenger side mirror (pictured). These cars rarely change hands (given that there are only 911 of them), and when they do they sell at a premium over the price of the standard Carrera 4. My NO RESERVE auction is starting for much less than one would expect to pay for a comparable standard C4, without the list of Millennium Edition options. I have tried to be thorough in my description of the car. I am happy to answer any questions about the car (please ask before bidding), and am happy to make the car available for your inspection (again, please make such arrangements before bidding). The car is minutes from O'Hare Airport, so I would be glad to meet you if you'd like to fly in and drive out (your own license plates, please). I will be glad to help with the logistics of shipping, though shipping is, of course, the bidder's responsibility. There is no reserve, so please only bid if you've the means and the intention to buy. (Please don't tell me your wife won't let you buy it, or that the bank turned you down for a loan, etc when you learn you placed the winning bid.) Bidding is a contract to buy, not a right of first refusal. The clear title is in my hand. Winning bidder to pay a $500 deposit within 24 hours; remaining funds due within seven days of auction's end.
