It is restored to high professional quality. This pickup is in excellent condition. A little history on this model: The Ford Motor Company has built trucks since the days of the Model T. Both light and heavy duty trucks for farm and commercial uses have played a major role in the success of the Ford brand. By the 1950’s light duty trucks in the popular half-ton, three quarter-ton, and one-ton models were gradually becoming less Spartan, utilitarian workhorses they had been for years and were gaining in style, comfort and amenities. 1953 marked a Golden Anniversary of the Ford Company and its trucks were redesigned with a longer hood that flowed more smoothly into the front fenders, and featured a larger cab with bigger windows. The model designations changed from the earlier F-1, 2, 3 and 4 to today’s familiar F-100, F-250 and F-350 terms. Both styling changes took place more slowly in the truck lines than those of passenger cars. The popular body styles of the mid-1950s Fords, now considered classically desirable by many today lasted from 1953-1956. A more angular style marked Ford’s pickups from 1957-1960. For 1961-1966 Ford returned to a more rounded cab and hood. Little more than grille design changed during this time. This particular Ford F-100 has been restored with new paint and trim on the exterior and a refurbished interior with modern bucket seats. The surprise is under the hood where a highly modified Ford 427 “Cobra” engine can be found. Custom valve covers, upgraded four barrel carburetor, high energy ignition and exhaust headers all make this a potent performer.
