VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: Up for auction is a 1968 AMC AMX 390. If you are looking for something different, but do not want to spend a fortune, this is the car. Only 2112 AMX 390’s with automatics were produced in 1968. This car has the original 390 motor and the original Borg Warner automatic transmission. The miles on the odometer show 30,611, but the title does show 130,611 approximately. Most states, mileage is exempt on a car of this vintage. SPECIFICATIONS: 390 V-8 with 4 barrel carburetor rated at 315 HP @ 4600 RPM, 425 FT LBS torque @ 3200 RPM, front engine rear wheel drive and automatic transmission. FEATURES: Original AM radio, power brakes and power steering. VEHICLE CONDTION: INTERIOR: The interior is clean. The seats are firm and comfortable. There are no rips, tears or burn holes. The dash, door panels, carpets and sun visors are in great shape. The carpet is new. The only issue is the headliner is coming down. It might be able to be fixed, but would probably need to be replaced. The rear view mirror is loose also. EXTERIOR : The body and paint are good. The paint shines nice. There are no major scratches or dents. There are 2 chips in the passenger side door that should be touched up and would not be noticed. There is also a small bubble in the paint on the hood and by the rear window (see pic). EXTERIOR TRIM : All trim is intact with normal wear and tear for this vintage vehicle. The chrome is good except the rear bumper. It looks good from a distance, but should be redone if you wanted this to be a show car. GAUGES/INSTRUMENTS : All gauges and instruments are working as they should. The radio is not working. EXTERIOR LIGHTS: All lights are in good working order. ENGINE/DRIVE TRAIN: The engine starts easily, idles normally, accelerates nicely and has no unusual noises or vibrations. The transmission operates smoothly with no problems evident. There is a leak coming from the transmission. When left parked in one spot for an extended time, there is a spot about the size of a frying pan. TIRES: The matched tires have approximately 90% tread remaining. BRAKES: The brakes are quiet, stop smoothly. The pedal feel is stiffer than on a newer car and the car has a slight pull when braking. UNDERHOOD: All fluid levels are up to specification. TERMS OF SALE: A $500 deposit within 3 days of auction end and balance to be paid within 5 business days. Acceptable forms of payment are cash, cashiers check or bank check only! Buyer will arrange, pay for, and have the car shipped within 30 days of close of auction.
