Vehicle Detail
Up for your consideration is a 1947 pontiac hearse/ambulance. If that is what it is.. I found this while browsing on craigslist and drove across 2 states to buy it.The guy that sold it to me, bought it and parked it at his parents house then let it sit. It had no title and no key.he owned it for about 2 years. I bought it , took the rollers out for safe keeping and made arrangements to have it transported back to the house. The motor turns by hand freely, everythings all original so its a 6 volt system. The body is solid, doors open and close like they should. A couple of door panels were taken off and sitting in the car. The last owner's talent was upostery--didnt get too far but all the pieces are there. The rollers are out and in my house. While looking though the car i found a name on an envelope and started searching for this person--ended up finding the lady that sold the car to the guy and she still had the title and the key along with the history of the vehicle. It was originally used at an army base in texas, her brother bought it and brought to to n.y. --When he passed she brought it to tenn.--drove it around and to car shows.. Was still driving nice and paint was shiny when the guy bought it--he was supposed to come back for the title and never did.I brought it to north carolina....I Think the motor will fire up and it will drive if its only been two years. Life changed for me so i need to pass it on but only if i can get close to my purchase price, if not i'll just keep it but its too big for the garage and i hate to see it go down. Supposed to be kinda rare. Will post more pics soon as the car and the computer are miles apart. Have the clear title noterized and the key in my possesion. The back window is missing and a piece of plexiglass is sitting there. One of the front windshields is cracked. The pics are when i bought the car, it hasn't changed but i'll put specific pics and the correct mileage up soon. If anyone has any knowledge of this car-write in and i'll post thanksOn May-16-10 at 11:17:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Vehicle Transportation Tools powered by Shipping Price Estimator Delivery Zipcode: uShip is the first and largest auction- style marketplace for shipping and transportation services. It was about 3 ft too long to put the door down but it spent the winter in the garage with a tarp over the front.Only recently did i park it outside on the concrete behind the garage but now with all the rain we had here yesterday it will have to stay there till the yard dries out. When i took pics i tried to show all the bad--The lady that i got the title from said there were no broken glass so i have to assume the pine trees where he had it park under did the damage.I've shown the front glass, the back glass and the dent beside it and there is a crack in the drivers vent glass. The wood floor in the back needs replacing - looks like a sheet of plywood that was covered with a material.Looks to have had a repaint during its life but close to the orig. color. The tires hold air, left rear goes down but takes about 2 months. I forgot to look at the mileage...i think its in the 70's--Any more pics let me know and i'll do my best to get them up here---
