In addition to its racing heritage, the Coupe is one of the most unique and stunning shapes in automotive history. We are building these cars in a quasi-religious sense, aware that this model, apart from everything we build at Factory Five, is special. Each Factory Five Type 65 Coupe is true to the performance charter that gave the design its birth, and yet filled with modern engineering. Our faithful rendition of the 1965 World Championship Winning Type 65 Coupe is not a kit for every one, but it is the only kit for some. The Best of 1965… and today. More than ten years ago we began designing the Type 65 Coupe as a pure replica, dedicated to the authenticity and artistry of the original 1965 World Championship Coupes. The Factory Five Type 65 Coupe captures the look and feel of the original 200 mph GT cars, but with today’s engineering, it is more reliable and performs better. Today you can build and pilot a car that is almost identical to those driven by guys like Bob Bondurant, Dan Gurney and Ken Miles. The only difference is that these days, technology has enabled vintage lines to merge with modern comfort and performance. While the car is a steel and aluminum, racing steering wheel, fire breathing monster vintage race car, it has benefited from a good amount of refinement and modern engineering. Like the roadster, we wanted to capture that vintage look and feel, but use modern running gear and enhance comfort and drivability. Today Factory Five Coupes have indeed become known as the most authentic and accurate replica, but now the design has grown to encompass a much larger role. What began as a replica of a track-only race car, has evolved into a chassis kit capable of delivering everything form open-track dominance to daily driver comfort. It has taken me EIGHT YEARS to get this car perfect. My dream was to have the best handling race car that I could pick up my dates in. Dream Realized... hence, the reason for sale... kids. I spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours perfecting the suspension with one of the best in the business: Terry Rossi- who currently has lap record at Willow Springs in a Viper. We swapped out the stock suspension and upgraded it with double wishbone A arm coil over that has been tested and fine tuned at the track. The engine was just perfected at the best auto shop in San Diego. They have the track record on the local drag strip and work with 1800 hp Mustangs everyday. They built this custom motor from the ground up with all of the best components. Then went through the car and perfected every little detail. THIS CAR RUNS LIKE A DREAM. If you are into fancy cars that drive themselves, then this is not for you. This is a 430rwph Super Car that only weights 2400lbs. You can not ask for better numbers than that. It is perfectly balanced at 50/50 and can pull over 1.3 g's in the corners. The huge tires, low center of gravity and light weight nature of this beast screams to tear corners up. Roll on the power and you will smoke the tires at 90 mph right before short shifting into 3rd gear. Trust me, when that supercharger kicks in, you better be facing forward because the power will throw you back in your seat and whip your head back, not to mention lay down a huge monster black strip on the asphalt.
