Vehicle Detail

This car has a bit of a story that is important to understanding it's condition and what your really getting. The car is a 1973 Mercury Capri that has been garaged for the better part of the last 20 years. It has an original 175,000 miles on it. You will notice that the odometer reads 75,000 miles this was before odometer's actually registered in the one hundred thousands. This was my parents car which they bought slightly used from garton motor co. in Escondido Ca. in Mar of 1976. I am not sure of the exact mileage at that time but they drove it to the mark now showing on the odometer at that time my father being a master auto tech and machinest decided that the engine was getting tired and he purchased another 2.6 engine from a wrecking yard and rebuilt that engine to factory specs to replace the existing engine. At that time he also decided that other things needed to be replaced So he purchased new front struts, steering rack busings, steering shaft couplers, caliper and wheel cylinder overhaul kits. Well than he got involved in other things and the car sat in the garage until he passed away. Now i inherited the car. and set about getting it running, i installed the previously rebuilt engine and other parts he had purchased the car has all new hoses, ignition wires, battery, spark plugs, overhauled carb and distributer and new clutch. In essence most everything under the hood. I rebuilt the front calipers and rear wheel cylinders/with new rear shoes and front brake hoses. The car was drained of gas when it was put away so there are no fuel sytem problems or "gunk" in the tank. The car runs beautifully and drives nice for a car of its vintage. The seats were redone at some point with no rips or tears. All the door panels and other interior pieces are in great shape with the exception of a couple of tears in the head liner and a wearing look on the make believe wood dash(old age) I think the pictures will explain this. The car was repainted the same color some time ago but needs to be redone. There are no rust issues or has the car ever been crashed (to my knowledge) there is a small body repair that had been done (prior to the repaint) just above the rear window where a baseball hit it (that was my little brother fault)(see pictures) and the rear bumper has a bit of a tweak in it. However that said you would be hard pressed to find a better car for restoration. All the major mechanicals have been attended to,just a few cosmetics and you would have a pretty new car.A few other things come to mind the exhaust system was replaced just prior to the non -op so its practically new. And just to ease your mind all the work was performed by a ASE Master tech...ME! A CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK. Now you wonder why get rid of it? Well i just like A/C too much and this car has none. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have and i will answer them to the best of my knowledge. If you plan on driving it any distance you will need to put some new tires on it. HAPPY BIDDING.......
