Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1987 BMW 325e with about 70,000 PROVABLE MILES, SUPPORTED BY BMW COMPUTER SERVICE RECORDS. This car has been in my family since it was purchased new in Connecticut in 1987. It was owned by my mother, then my father when she passed away. He was a Fortune 500 executive and had this as one of many BMWs. My mother drove it fewer than 8,000 miles when she became unable to drive. Then my 88 year old father drove it until he went to a retirement home. The car is in outstanding condition. It was regularly serviced at BMW dealers both in Connecticut and Texas. Thus it has a long, provable, service history, supported by computer records showing mileage and anywork performed. BMW computer records show that the car had 26,634 miles on 3/23/04 when the dash gauges were replaced. (see picture of service record) Since then it has about 45,000 miles, as you can see in the dash pictures. You are bidding on what is arguably the lowest mileage, 1987 BMW 325 in the entire country. And I can prove it with BMW records. The service manager even remembered doing the work for my 90 year old father, who was quite a memorable person. I invite any bidder to take the car for a drive and inspection. It is conveniently located in central Texas, outside of Austin. It has always been garaged and has no rust, no dents or dings, has never been in an accident. The interior is original and all leather, and in outstanding shape. No tears, fading, splits or cracks in the leather. We took wonderful care of the car and had it detailed frequently. It was garaged so has no sun damage from the Texas sun. Carpet has always had mats so there is NO WEAR on the carpet--black. The tires have lots of tread on them with fewer than 10,000 miles wear. The air conditioner was replaced 3 years ago and it is the most modern system requiring no freon--it uses the air conditioner material now used on all cars. The alternator has been replaced and the engine manifold has been replaced. The muffler is recent and in perfect shape. The 2 front windows are electric and work fine. All the gauges such as speedometer, tach, water and fuel work fine. The radio antenna is a retractable and works fine, it is only a year old. The electronics work fine--headlights, fog lights, blinders, wipers. It is regularly inspected and passes inspection. There is no oil leakage and no oil burning. It has received regular oil changes and tranny flushes so it is perfectly up to date. The last few oil and tranny changes were with B&G products. Brakes and major systems are updated and work fine. 2 years ago I replaced the Blaupunkt radio with a DVD/AM/FM radio (no DVD screen) so I could listen to DVDs while I drove. Works great. Has original Blaupunkt speakers in front and rear and they are perfect. It gets about 22-24 miles per gallon and uses regular gas. There is a retractable roof section with a manual crank. Works great and does not leak even in the worst rain. The only items keeping the car from being "perfect" for its age are an onboard computer light that stays on from the coolant. It needs to have the connector cleaned. There was a slight puncture in the rail below the passenger door, behind the front wheel that I patched with a small weld. It is very low on the body and I patched it rather than replace the short panel below the passenger door. No damage other than that small puncture (from a rock thrown by a shredder). There is not a better 1987 original BMW 325e in the country than this one in my opinion. I went on to several of the major sites and could not find a 1987 3 Series BMW with less than 125,000 miles---and many of them had 175,000 miles or more. I am often stopped when I am parking the car and people ask me if I restored it. I tell them it is all original. When they see the interior, people cannot believe it is all original since it is in such great shape. Recently a 1987 325 was advertised as a "parts only" car that did not run and it fetched over $4,000. I am selling the car because I have no garage space and am liquidating a large estate. The car is located north of Austin, Texas.
