Vehicle Detail
Thanks for your interest in my auction. I am selling my V-Strom so I can buy a naked sport-bike (something along the lines of a Triumph Street Triple, Yamaha FZ1 or perhaps a Ducati Monster 696). This was my first bike and I enjoy it a great deal. If I could afford to keep it and buy another bike I would -- but I'm not there quite yet. With the exception of a couple nicks/scratches (see below) it's in great shape. Before I took delivery I had the dealer install heated hand-grips. They work great and you'd be surprised how much you use them. Other than the heated hand-grips the bike is completely stock. I had the initial 600 mile service done at the Suzuki dealer where I purchased the bike. As part of the original sale I purchased an extended warranty -- and made sure it was transferable. I was thinking I might want something bigger, later, and thought an extended warranty would be an added bonus for a buyer and make it a bit easier to sell. The warranty is offered through Suzuki and good until September 2011. The bike has been down once, here's what happened: I was on my way to work one morning very soon after getting the bike (it had about 250 miles on it). There was some mist in the air and I approached a busy intersection to make a left turn. As I moved through the left-turn-only lane, I noticed the approaching car was going much faster than I had originally thought. I had already committed to the turn and -- rookie mistake -- applied the front brake, a bit too much. The water left on the road, the oily residue on the road and my bone-headed move meant I was down before I knew it. Lucky for me, I wasn't going fast at all, only 10 MPH and I wasn't seriously injured. Lucky for you is that the initial brunt of the fall/slide was taken by my calf -- that's what the bike came down on first. The bike made out pretty well -- remember it was a low-speed incident. I replaced the front turn signal and fixed the shifter. There's a couple scratches to the side cowling, bar-end, clutch lever and front fender. I've put 3,200 miles on this bike since it happened without any issues or problems. Note: I removed the "V-Strom" sticker on the left side (it was making it look worse than it actually was . . . ). I checked out how much a new sticker is ($40, I think), but don't have the time, or expertise, to replace it and (properly) re-paint it (although that panel is flat/matte paint, so it shouldn't be too hard). I own this bike outright and possess a clear title. I reserve the right to end the auction early if I sell the item locally. The successful bidder must contact me within 24 hours of auction end and submit a $500 deposit through PayPal (or cashier's check or cash) within 24 hours of auction end. I reserve the right cancel bids of those with poor eBay records. Any shipping is the responsibility of the auction winner and all funds must be in my possession before motorcycle will be released to shipment. Please ask me any questions you and if you'd like more detailed pictures don't hesitate to ask.
