Vehicle Detail
As much as it pains me to do so, I'm listing my 2001 Triumph Thunderbird for sale. This is a fantastic all around bike, as anyone who's ever ridden one will gladly tell you. Search the web for reviews of the bike and you'll see what I mean! It handles like a sportbike in the twisties, but is just as comfortable short-distance touring or cruising around town. throw on a set of highway bars and you'll be set up for a little long distance cruising or touring as well. The bike gets tons of looks and is something different than the "same-old" Harley that everyone else seems to be riding these days - and at a fraction of the cost! The bike has a clear title and has never been in an accident that I'm aware of. I'm the second owner, having just purchased the bike this time last year. The bike is in great shape, though not mint, and has low miles for a 9 year old bike. Some of the features: Gold/Green paint scheme (the green is a dark metallic and looks black in the pics) 900cc in-line triple New seat Triumph and aftermarket chrome accessories Body color matched fly-screen Triumph Off-Road pipes (TORs) (extra hp and performance - plus a great sound) Carbs jetted and tuned for the TORs Aftermarket hard saddlebags w/ rigid mount New (less than 1500 miles) Avon Storm tires front and rear Aftermarket thumb-screw/hex head seat mounting bolts I had the bike completely serviced when I bought it less than 1500 miles ago. This included the installation of the new tires listed above and the replacement of a coil that was getting close to needing to be replaced and a new front brake pad. All fluids were also flushed and replaced at this time. I have all service records to go with the bike. The bike rides wonderfully and is in great mechanical condition. There are a few flaws though that I want to be perfectly clear about: The bike touched the ground twice in the last year - the bike was stationary in both cases and gently lowered. In both cases I didn't fully put the kickstand down and thought that I had. By the time I realized my mistake the bike was leaning far enough over that I couldn't pull it back up and had to lower it (gently) to the ground. The first time - because I had the bars turned to the right trying to get her back up - the left side footpeg and gear-shift took the full weight of the bike and sheared off. Other than a scratch on the end of the left side brake lever and grip, this was the only damage to the bike. Unfortunately, to replace the stub shaft on the gear-shift the engine and tranny had to be pulled - sooo...$800 worth of labor later the $100 replacement was installed. The good news is that there was no real damage done to the bike - and that the mechanic had a chance to inspect the guts of the tranny when he replaced the stub shaft (all in good shape he said). This happened two weeks after my full service, so all of the fluids were again replaced (not cheap) at the time of this repair. The rear brake lense has a crack in it, but you have to look closely to see it (it won't show in pictures). There are some chips and crazing on the right side of the fly-screen (see picture). There is a small patch of surface rust on the inside-top of the right tailpipe (see picture). The seat-mounting bolt threads had been cross-threaded, so I replaced them with heli-coils and new thumb-screw/hex head mounting bolts. These are much nicer than the crap bolts Triumph supplies original. I've also got a Triumph Newham riding jacket size 46/56 (see stock pic), a 3/4 DOT helmet size M painted (by me - not professionally) like a Union Jack (see pic) with a clear and a tinted removable face-shield, and a set of gauntlet style riding gloves. An extra $200 will get you all three - the jacket alone costs that much new. The jacket and gloves have only been worn a handful of times (too warm around here during riding season). The lining of the helmet is clean and lightly used. Finally, I've also got a Davida Classic size M (non-DOT) in a gold/black pattern for another $150 if you'd like it (see pic). This has an attachable face-mask that I've never used. Buyer will have to arrange for shipment or local pick-up. I can assist on this end and will have the bike ready to go for you, but the coordination (and payment) is your responsibility.
