Okay, so my car does have a checkered past. 8 years ago I wanted a Jag XK8 coupe in the worst way. But I couldn’t afford the $40,000 they were going for at that time. Since I was no stranger to large car projects, I decided to purchase 2 damaged XK8 coupes and build 1 good one. One of the coupes was in a flood with no outward damage except for a couple of small dents. The other was hit in the right front and had extensive unibody damage. I took both cars completely apart and used all of the best parts to build this car. The flood car donated the body and suspension. The wrecked car donated the engine, complete electrical system and interior. Between the 2 cars I was able to build 1 car with nearly all of the options available and paint it in the best colors, Carnival Red with Cashmere leather interior. The car includes the following options: 1. Chrome factory wheels 2. Factory hands free cell phone 3. Factory in dash GPS with the latest DVD 4. Premium Alpine sound system w/6 disk CD changer 5. Bronze tinted windows and a very nice windshield shade It also includes the following standard features: 1. Anti-lock brakes 2. Traction control 3. Automatic head lights 4. Auto rain sensing wipers 5. Cruise control 6. 8 way driver’s seat with 2 memory positions 7. Auto dimming review mirror 8. Heated seats 9. Climate control The good news is everything works! just as it should. No warning lights on the dash of any kind. The engine is powerful, smooth and quiet. The ride and handling is excellent. The interior is in excellent condition with only minor wear on the driver’s seat. It has a near new set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires. The timing change tensioners have been upgraded to the metal ones. The MAFS and throttle body are new. The front suspension has the eccentric bolts installed and a recent 4 wheel alignment. The engine was manufactured in August of 2000 and the dealer told me this is an iron cylinder liner engine, not nikasil. Now the bad news. The wheels have a few corrosion pits, the paint on the left rear fender near the fuel filler and roof has some cracks in it, but the rest of the paint is excellent. The passenger side has 1 door ding that can be fixed with paintless dent repair and the transmission is starting to slip a little under hard acceleration. It is not bad at all and most of the time you will not notice, but the ZF transmission in these cars has a reputation of internal leaking valve body. The good news is the rebuild kit comes with a factory upgrade correction, so it will not happen again. I want to be completely honest about the condition. This car has many great attributes and a few blemishes. I feel that my reserve price is set low to allow for these and to pass on the saving that I enjoyed at the beginning of the project to the next owner. This has been my personal car for the last 8 years and my wife and I have enjoyed it immensely. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask, except for the reserve.
