Vehicle Detail

I will describe this car in great detail. I purchased this car from an Ebayer in South Florida last year. So the first thing I had to do was get it back to Northern Virginia (5 miles west of Dulles airport), which is just over 1000 miles. She lived up to her name and ran flawlessly through 2 days of driving totaling 1050 miles. I ran the Air Conditioning the whole way and averaged over 30 miles per gallon on the trip. This is a rare survivor in the Alfa world, and it runs great on the highway (not over 65 mph, then she vibrates via the driveline). It is one of the nicest Alfettas you will find. There was a lot of money spent by previous owners on making it “original”, including the wood steering wheel. I do not have the receipts for all this work, you just have to look at the finished product. If I don’t mention something, it’s fine. The mileage is shown just under 58,000 and in discussions with the previous owner, there is no reason to think this is incorrect but no guarantees. Most of the recent work was done by Stephens Alfa in Pompano Beach, Florida. I have owned numerous GTV 6’s and other Alfa’s, and this one is in the best shape of any I have owned. It passed Virginia Inspection last fall The A/C blows very cold. This is separate from the heater fan motor, which does not come on as it should. Some heat does come out when you are at speed. The front wipers work fine (slow as usual), I don’t know if the rear wiper and squirter work, all components are there but I cannot find a switch for it. All lights are fine, although the rear turn signal bulbs sometimes get corroded and need to be cleaned. The Fog lights work as they should from a separate switch on the lower left of the dash. All Guages and Dash Lights work as they should, which is amazing. Emergency brake is fine, 2nd gear syncro is not an issue (unless it is cold). The sunroof operates properly using the hand crank at the front center of the headliner. The drivers’ sunvisor clip is broken, but it will stay up and out of the way by sliding it behind the sunroof crank. Exterior The paint is nice, say 7.5 out of 10. It has a good shine as you can see. There are a few door dings, and strangely, several very, very small dings along the drivers side, that can only be seen from an angle. There is one imperfection on the hood as well. Also there is a long scratch that has been repaired on the sunroof. Interior – 9 out of 10, just about perfect, with new upholstery, headliner, rug and mats. The rug is the chocolate brown and the new floormats are black. The lower left corner of the passenger door panel needs to be re-attached. The usual splits in the dash are very small and are only 3 in number. You can barely see them. Mechanical - 9 out of 10 Engine - Del’Orto Carbs have jets that are too large, suspect this contributes to making a slow car even slower. This is a great candidate for Nitrous or Turbo charging. Engine and engine bay is beautiful. Brakes – Excellent, the best I’ve felt on an Alfa Suspension – all is well here, rear springs are the stiffer GTV6 versions The Tires are almost new, the Ronal wheels in great shape except left rear has small curb rash Driveline “donuts” – almost new Exhaust System - Almost new Original looking radio plays fine through 4 nice speakers I took the car to DiFatta Bros. in Baltimore last year for Paul to go over. In my opinion he is the best Alfa mechanic around. His report: no rust underneath, needs driveline balance, needs correct carb jets. When I complained about a few oil spots on my garage floor, Paul said this is normal for this car. It does burn a little oil too, but mainly noticeable when starting. Very reliable, starts right away every time. The only lingering sign of any rust (that has been stopped) is around the rear taillights. That is why the larger GTV6 lenses are used, so this can't be seen. The original Alfetta rear lenses come with the car. Also, on the Mille Miglia badges, the yellow paint is funky, looks like it was brushed on. There you have it, a very nice little coupe, with very few issues. PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS CAR IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO BUY IT. A $500 DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED VIA PAYPAL FROM THE WINNING BIDDER WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE AUCTION CLOSE. I would appreciate it if the final payment is within 10 days of the auction close. Notes: Car is garage kept, has new mats, 5 speed with transaxle, headliner is perfect. More notes: the backs of the outside mirrors are rough, the shifter boot has pulled away somewhat from the sides of the console. The rear bracket of the exhaust has come loose, need to drill a hole and re-connect. RESERVE is set at $5,000 There is NO Warranty of any kind on this car. THANKS.On May-05-10 at 04:36:09 PDT, seller added the following information: RESERVE LOWERED TO $4000.00On May-07-10 at 07:22:48 PDT, seller added the following information:Forgot to mention, on the drivers window, the rear guide track for window is missing. Not much effect when it is all the way up or down. It wobbles some when half way up and there is a bit of wind noise from this.
