Vehicle Detail

THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION! NOTE: I'm using the VIN from another Vanagon, a domestic model as ebay does not accept German VINs in their listings. The Experian AutoCheck Vehicle History Report shown above is taken from this Vanagon, VIN: WV2YB0255HH064426. This is a 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Double Cab Syncro 4WD Transporter, walk-thru model, a Very Rare and a Collectors item. The German VIN is WV2ZZZ24ZGG075983. It has a clear Hawaii title. The description below was provided by the POV 3 years ago when I purchased it: 2.1 Fuel Injected Engine with 5 Manual Trans (Granny Gear plus 4 Road Gears). She had a full service last week with all new filters, oil, coolant, belts, new rear shocks (KYB Gas adjust). Brake Pads were replaced about 5,000 miles ago. New Battery last month. Transmission, I am told was rebuilt in Germany 2 years ago with limited slip diff. I do not have the papers for this but she drives and changes gear perfectly. She does not have locking diffs (a disadvantage to some heavy duty off roaders, however you do not have the expense of maintaining them). We have an 8 year old V8 Jeep that comes nowhere near to the Syncro in off road use despite the V8 power. Odometer reads 47,000 Kilometers (approx 31,000 miles). This could be correct as she was originally a maintenance vehicle with emergency lights on the roof. so rarely left the depot. The small holes for the lights have grommets in them and there is a 2" tear in the center of the headliner. The headliner is the original white with pinholes. I am told she spent most time parked in a depot, however I would be happier to say the mileage is around 140,000. This vehicle underwent the stringent German TUV in 2006, so everything works, from the awesome H4 Lights to the windshield washers. The heating is great. She does not have aircon but does have two extra 'Grooves' on the rear pulley to run aircon or auxilliary items. Front to rear water pipes were replaced about a year ago. All hoses look great. She is awesome to drive, will go almost anywhere and cruises down the highway with a fabulous driving position above the poor people in their SUVs. She has great all round visibility thanks to the truck mirrors. Fuel consumption is 17 to 27 MPG. City parking is a piece of cake thanks to the box shape. Steering is light and does not pull at all either on the Highway or under braking. There is some tire noise on the highway due to the 205/75 R15 Tires. (Standard tire size on a Vanagon is 185/14). She will easily do 75 MPH on the Interstate. Clear Colorado Title. Color: Original L20B Orange. This vehicle has original paint apart from the black line on the bottom 10 inches. Wheels are Mercedes alloys, some pitting due to road salt, 7Jx15. Two plastic center caps are missing. Tires are 205/75 R15. Spare is also a 15", Steel with 195 R15 Tire. The pioneer radio / CD is not connected. There are 2 door speakers and very nice aluminum grills under the seat for more speakers. The antenna is a Bosch system attached along the top of the winshield glass. The glass is all original VW with the VW Logos, no chips. The window seals and all rubber is near perfect. Seats: The front seats have two 2" tears in the covering but will be good for many years, the padding is like new. The rear seat is cloth, from a Vanagon Tristar. There is a Land Meter mounted on the Dash to show 'Pitch and Roll'. Rear seat has flourescent lamp. Original VW Westfalia towbar with under engine protection. German Rear Mudflaps. Truck Mirrors. Front Brushguard (VW South Africa), New. Rear Rollbar is 2.5" Steel with 'Syncro' Logo - See Pic. She fits into a standard US Garage with about 2" to spare above the rollbar. Original PUCH badge is still on one side. The underside is solid. However this is a 20 year old vehicle so there is some very minor surface rust. If you want a truly perfect underside I respectfully suggest you buy a brand new Hummer! The inside of the storage boxes, under the rear seat and underside of the rear platform are usually rusted out on double cabs - This one is near perfect. The drop gates are straight but have some signs of use. The negatives: 3 Small Dings on passenger side by front grill. Rear door and one storage box door have small dings at the bottom. The left side rear wheel arch has some bondo and the underside of the front door step plates, under the cool step pads show rust, horizontal seam rust driverside below cab. These could all be left alone for many years. However if you want a show vehicle they can be repaired. The parts required are part #s: 95-57-53-1, 95-57-32-1 and 95-57-32-2. The rear bumper should be replaced one day: Part # 251 807-311H. There are no seat belts in the rear but the mounting points are installed. California bidders note: The catalytic converter and muffler have been removed. I am supplying the original (rusty) Cat and Original muffler with the vehicle. The Fuel Injected engine is so good that she passes EPA in Europe and has no problem in almost every state without the cat. This vehicle drives better than any of the other 5 Syncros I have owned, however she is sold 'As is' with no warranty. Shipping is at the buyers expense, However we can arrange and make sure she goes with a reputable shipping company. West Coast from Colorado usually costs around $700, New York $900 to $975. Starting Price is the Reserve price Good luck bidding - I'll be sorry to see her go. All of the above descriptions still applies but as an update: Odometer now reads 51,500 Kilometers (approx. 32,000 miles). Installed a Porsche 914 tachometer in the center console. The Pioneer Radio / CD player is now connected. German aluminum plate covered bed. New battery and alternator, replaced the starter. Does not leak any engine or transmission oil and does not overheat (tested at idle for over an hour). Like the POV said it drives very well. The negatives: The Speedometer/Odometer stopped working 2 weeks ago (most Vanagons have this problem). The Land Meter described above is not connected (wasn't connected when I got it , didn't need it). Update: The Land Meter is now connected and working! Tires have low thread and should probably be replaced. Shipping: Shipping to the West Coast costs around $1000, I will provide buyer assistance in getting her to the shipping port in Honolulu.
