Vehicle Detail
The body on this car is very nice, and it runs good -- or ran good, until the water pump started to leak. The inside is rough. I was going to fix it up until the vacuum boost (brakes) and the water pump both developed leaks. You can see pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39583999@N06/sets/72157622502250069/detail/ 1984 Corvette C4 Coupe, 350 crossfire engine, 4+3 transmission (seems to be working), hard top solid removable roof panel (not a T-top, NOT TRANSPARENT) that essentially makes it a convertible. This was originally a Florida car, I'm told. My favorite body shop wizard bought it, fixed all the mechanicals, put a GORGEOUS CANDY-APPLE RED PAINT JOB on it, and then sold it to me (June 09). [UPDATE: He's not so much my favorite anymore.] It came with lots of new rubber (tires, hoses, etc), exhaust, brakes, and runs extremely well. The interior is red leather and black trim. The odometer says 45,000, but it came with a recently rebuilt digital dash, and I'm told that the mileage figure travels with the dash (not sure if that's correct). I believe the actual mileage is higher, possibly over 100k. One potential ebay buyer pointed out that "Car Fax lists the reported mileage in 1996 as 93,389." No sound system. I added one when I got the car, but it's not original and I'm pulling it, for use elsewhere. PROBLEMS: The interior is rough, though it has a new red carpet set. It needs weatherstripping around the doors/roof. Many of the black plastic trim parts are cracked, some seriously, and some knobs are broken off (probably the result of 25 years of Florida sun). The leather seats are worn and show age cracks. One of the headlights needs a rebuild kit (I'm told <$75 for the kit), and the left-side outside mirror needs a mounting bracket (internal part, haven't found it yet) and a trunion (easily available). It recently developed a hard brake pedal, and my mechanic diagnosed it as a bad power brake booster. The part is available @ $170 at Eckler's. Mechanic says the water pump leaks. Has new custom fabricated oil cooler hoses. Wow. Overall it runs strong (RAN, before the water pump thing), and is/was loads of fun to drive. It's currently located in Victor, NY. Final price will be as it sits, where it sits. It can be driven onto a transport/tow truck.
