Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a very rusty 1970 Ford Mustang coupe. It has a 302 V8 with a two barrel carburetor and automatic, guessing a C4. The car has been sitting for approximately 10 years. It has rust in about every body panel, including lower fenders, hood, doors, decklid, torque boxes, floor pans, COWL, etc. The car runs very well and shows 44,000 miles on the odometer, and I believe that those are original miles. It just runs to good to have 144,000 miles. Also the shifter bushings are not all sloppy like you would expect a high mileage car to have. Cylinders have between 135-160 psi of compression. Car looks to have the original carb(DOAF), distributor, engine tag, etc. Tne car has pretty nice upholstery on the seats-- did not see any tears. The car does run and drive, but the gas tank was leaking, so I put a gas jug on the apron to run it. It has a new drum brake master cylinder and the brakes are working, but pull hard left. Transmission shifts out but have not driven any distance because of the fuel situation. The transmission cooling lines were so rusty that they are leaking. I tried to patch, but they still leak. It would need a fuel tank, some fuel lines, and transmission cooling lines at the very minimum to drive. Car starts right up and choke kicks off properly. I would not recommend restoring this car, but it would make a great parts car to rebody a fastback or another coupe. It has alot of great parts and for those of you who have built Mustangs will appreciate. Some of the parts that are noteworthy are the fender extensions with tabs intact, very nice headlight surround moldings as well, seats, driveline,ps pump, glass, window regulators, strut rods looked straight- not sure about pitting until they are removed, drum brake spindles for those circle track guys, lock cylinders, steering column, steering wheel and pad, wiring, gauge clusters, clock bezel, pillar moldings, grille support and latch, etc. The fenders might be able to be repaired as well as the front valance, not sure. I am listing with no reserve because I am serious about selling the car because space has become an issue. Please bid to own. In Alabama, cars prior to 1975 do not have titles. This car does not have a title. A bill of sale and a copy of the current registration is all the new owner will get as far as paperwork. If this is a problem do not bid. The car must be transported and is not roadworthy. The parking brake probably does not work due to rust. Please ask any questions before bidding. Feel free to call me @ (256)282-4055 8am-10pm CST. Car must be picked up no later than 14 days after close of auction. No marathons. A non refundable deposit of $200 is due at close of auction. I will be listing some other cars and parts as well .Good Luck!!
