Vehicle Detail

1972 Pontiac Grand Prix model J. Black w/ white interior and vinyl top. 3rd owner, original 455 numbers matching engine, original 400 turbo automatic, tilt, cruise, a/c, original 3:07 limited slip differential, am/fm, dual sport mirrors, remote d/s mirror, dual exhaust, factory tinted glass, factory 14 inch Rallye II wheels, shoulder harness option. I purchased this car in Va. in August 1996 and drove it home. This car is mostly original, and has the original spare tire and jack. The odometer read approximately 74,000 when I purchased it, and it now reads 88,500 miles (188,000 actually I believe). The motor runs welland has not been rebuilt, but heads were reconditioned. I have the protect-o-plate and factory service card, as well as original manuals and some other paperwork from the original owner. I had the car repainted in 1997 and a new and proper style vinyl top was installed, as well as a new windshield and rear glass. I removed the top trim and repainted the white accents, and repainted the silver in the cast grill. New aluminized dual exhaust installed in 1996 w/ Dynomax super-turbo mufflers. Mufflers just replaced last week due to rattle. Transmission was serviced and resealed in 1997. Both bumpers were re-chromed. New trunk and door weatherstripping was installed, as well as a new hood insulation pad. New ball joints, rear springs and tires were installed in 2000, and the Firestone Firehawks have about 10,000 miles on them. The front end was aligned and tracks nicely. The factory rims have the original red center caps. New battery was installed 6 months ago. The engine compartment is nicely detailed. The power window motors were replaced in the doors, and these windows move fast! The clock and washer pump do not work. New work as of December2009: Front calipers, brake pads, rotors, brake hoses, power steering pressure hose, fan clutch, and master cylinder. The intake gasket and valve cover gaskets were recently replaced. The interior is good, but showing some age and wear. The black dash is perfect and not cracked, nor is the console. The carpet is in good condition but showing some age and fading The driver seat is ripped where the back meets the bottom, and some stains are present on the seats and headliner. The headliner has a small hole near the coat hanger D/S. The seat backs are also showing age and wear. The rear seat is in good condition. The driver side door panel was replaced as the original arm rest area was damaged (as they usually are), and the new panel is in very good condition. This door panel is from a previous year and does have a different remote mirror escutcheon plate, but you probably would not notice. Also, the GP emblem is not present on this different door panel that is present on the original passenger side door panel. The undercarriage has no rust issues. An oil leak has coated the underside after the firewall, and some cleaning is needed. No active leaks are present. Now for the negatives. The a/c does not work, nor does the cruise control, but I did install a new NOS Oldsmobile cruise control module (in engine compartment on fender well) that my friend had in an original GM box, but this did not fix the problem. The AM/FM radio is working, but the speaker sounds old. The driver side door latch/handle is in need of adjustment. The black paint looks magnificent and cost me $5000, although there is now is a scratch in the rear quarter about 1 inch long, and other minor paint chips are present in the front headlight area, side mirror, and elsewhere. The car runs great, brakes well, and is a pleasure to drive. I have kept it garaged since I have owned it, and have not driven in snow or rain. I have thousands in receipts which will go with the car, as well as some extra parts and the stuff I removed like the original door panel and cruise module mentioned above. If you want information , or other pics, please email me right away. I have a thriving business that takes a lot of my time, and would like to answer questions early in the auction so you can be informed adequately and timely. I will be happy to speak with you on the phone - just email me with phone number. I will deliver this car for free anywhere on Long Island. Thanks for looking!
