Vehicle Detail
4039 of these were made from 1998-2001 making it a rare car that will go up in value. I own another E38 and am selling for the sake of difference. Since my ownership I have done the following: 1) New glass headlamp lens 2) New Oil Separator Valves and Boots 3) New Headliner - Recovered "A" Pillars and roof 4) Replaced T-Stat on Water Pump 5) Replaced one throttle body unit 6) Upgraded Navigation to the 16:9 and MK4 DVD driven unit (stereo sounds fine, with exception of rear deck speakers, new foam surrounds supplied to DIY repair) 7) New DURALAST Battery - Replaced in Feb/March 8) A/C serviced in July - Evacuated - oiled and filled9) New fuel filter 10) New air hoses on front of engine and some other bits 11) New transmission filter comes with the car ( I never got around to changing the fluid) NO RUST. ___________________________________________________________ Challenges:1) Hood and Driver fender are oxidized, driver fender has light forearm dents from mechanics leaning in over the years. (PDR or paint hood and fender)2) There is a hardly noticeable 4-5 inch imperfection in the black area of the rear bumper. (easy fix, paint) 3) The body is in nice shape, showing just a few minor dings, the driver door has a dent in the upper part. (PDR) 4) Interior is only missing the rear driver 1/4 shade and a thin piece of chrome. 5) The temp "dummy" gauge is not reading. Three thermostats feed the system, I replaced one. I'll toss in an extra cluster. Temp can be monitored from the cluster digitally. 6) Glove box closes perfectly, handle needs adjusting. I just pull the cable to open it. __________________________________________________________________________________Everything else works. It even has the K40 radar detector from 1998 installed as a dealer option, if I recall. It will cruise at 80mph with ease and hold a straight line. Before my ownership, some suspension parts were replaced, I've not been under it since March so Im not sure which parts. Owner (1) was Bob Barker, owner of a large dealership in tidewater VA. It was his personal car. He later sold it to a friend of his (2) who always admired it & owned several Italian eateries in Norfolk, VA. Both were clearly car guys and took great care of the car until the later passed away a few years ago. I purchased it from the corporation/family. Records were not transferred with the sale, but the vehicles provenance was enough for me to know it was cared for and adult driven/maintained. Fun Facts - This model is less problematic to own than the face lift version (99-01) because it does not have the dual battery setup which typically has issues due to the module that controls them, nor does it have the E-KAT system, which is a system that heats the converters for 2 minutes while the engine is cold. Neither of these modules is sold anymore. With this car, it's not a concern. This is also one of the last pre-facelift cars off the line. The price reflects the need of a paint job, nothing more. If I painted it I would be asking over $12k 7 min video - driving etc - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-su4JHLkNQQ&t=9s (PS: the heads up display gives me the temp, so when I accelerated it was operating temp) 125 pics - can send link via message - eBay wont allow - Google album I challenge you to find one in this shape with low miles in this ballpark. RELISTED DUE TO A NON-PAYING BIDDER.
