The available 6.7-liter turbodiesel V-8 produces 440 hp and a whopping 860 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come paired to Ford’s six-speed TorqShift SelectShift automatic transmission. Either powertrain can be mated to a two-wheel or four-wheel drive system. The F-250 comes available in five configurations: the regular cab with the long 8-foot bed, the Super Cab with the short 6-foot-9-inch bed or the long bed, and the Crew Cab with either the short or long bed. Unlike the F-350 and F-450, the F-250 does not come available with dual-rear wheels. When properly equipped, the F-250 can tow up to 16,600 pounds and has a maximum payload capacity of 4,040 pounds. Neither the EPA nor Ford have released the fuel economy ratings for the F-250.The top-of-the-line Platinum trim comes standard with 10-way power driver and front passenger seats, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats (Crew Cab), SNC 3, a 10-speaker Sony premium audio system with navigation, power adjustable pedals, 8.0-inch instrument panel driver display, Blind Spot Monitoring System, adaptive steering, heated steering wheel, and remote engine start. Adaptive cruise control with brake support will not automatically brake for the driver but will instead warn of a possible collision and prime the brakes for maximum stopping power.What We ThinkPart of the Super Duty lineup (3/4 – 1-ton trucks), the F-250 is built for additional capability and features higher towing and payload capacities compared to the smaller regular duty F-150 (1/2-ton). The Super Duty lineup accomplishes this by using an upgraded suspension, a larger and thicker frame, an available fifth wheel/gooseneck hitch, available dual-rear wheels, and most importantly, a powerful turbodiesel engine. For example, the most powerful engine in the F-150 is the 3.5-liter Ecoboost V-8 that produces 420 lb-ft of torque and has a maximum towing capacity of 12,200 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 3,270 pounds. As previously mentioned, the F-250 more than tops those numbers, and the F-450 can tow up to 31,200 pounds and has a maximum payload capacity of 7,050 pounds when properly equipped using the 6.7-liter 925-lb-ft of torque turbodiesel engine. Additionally, the Super Duty series can be prepped for work truck applications.
