Vehicle Detail
This is a 1969 SAAB Sonett #1305 in a well-preserved original condition. It is running well (engine was rebuilt) and most importantly: NO RUST anywhere. Let me try to describe the vehicle’s condition as well as I can (and inspections are welcome - car in San Diego): Body and frame: fiberglass and glass are all in tact and no cracks in the windshield. No signs of any repair anywhere – so all original. The paint is poor. The car was originally blue and I was told that about twenty years ago, the owner (a SAAB club member) changed the color to British Racing Green. Of course now the paint is old and the original blue shows in spots where the green came off. For proper show quality, the car must be repainted in its original blue. Interior: The interior appears to be complete. No tears. However it appears that previous repairs have slightly different color. A re-dyeing is highly recommended. Instrument panel is all there but the speedometer is not working – could be as simple as a cable. Also the clock is not working. The mileage shown is about 58K miles and therefore ‘true miles are unknown’. However, based on the car’s condition, I don’t think that it is over 100K miles. Engine and driveline: Engine was rebuilt a few years ago but the car was driven less than a thousand miles since. It starts and runs strong – also no leaks. Transmission shifts easily but one should get used to the column shifter. Clutch and brakes are fine. A month ago, engine oils and filter were replaced (synthetic) so the car can be driven with confidence. By the way, I'm not a dealer - just got a catchy ebay username. In conclusion, this car is as close to original as close you can get and most importantly it has NO RUST. It deserves a loving cosmetic restoration and some people (in Europe) already asking north of $40K for nice ones.
