Don Hutchinson paint and matching numbers 1967 Triumph Bonneville Engine & Frame number: T120R DU52451 As the 1960s dawned, Triumph's larger twins remained recognizably similar to the first Speed Twin of 1938. Unitary construction of engine and gearbox was already a feature of the 350 and 500 twins though, and that innovation duly appeared on the 650s in 1963. The café racer's favourite since its launch, thanks to lusty acceleration and a top speed approaching 120mph, the Bonneville continued in this new form as Triumph's top-of-the-range sportster. The bike offered is a matching numbers Triumph Bonneville of the highly desirable and very collectable 1967 vintage. The bike was mechanically restored including “going through” the engine and gearbox, and all cycle parts. It was treated to new Amal carbs, an electronic ignition for added reliability, and the M-bars. It runs great with responsive engine, good brakes and forks up front and Hagon shocks at the back. Gearbox shifts smoothly through all gears and with a good clutch. It starts within a couple of kicks. The tires are soft with plenty of tread and are wrapped around original Dunlop rims. Until several months ago, the bike was ridden often and serviced regularly by Jeff Rogan at Limey Lucas Motorcycles. Cosmetically, the bike is in good overall condition. The tank was painted in the very correct colour scheme of Aubergine over Alaskan White by Triumph paint guru Don Hutchinson; chrome is very good with minor pitting, frame is original in finish.
