So I bought this from a dealer auction last February, and the greek tragedy (my P38 adventure) began. It is a one owner car, always maintained at Jaguar Land Rover of Farmington Hills. I checked out the service history before buying it and the previous owner took care of it (snowbird from Birmingham MI). Unfortunately for me, the dealer that bought it wholesale in 2013 when Farmington Hills Jag/LR took it in on trade did not (well to fair it is a P38 and all of its gremlins have surfaced....). It is clean inside, no signs of smoking or other issues. Paint is clean, just a few chips/usual scratches from a 18 y.o. truck, but nothing major. I picked it up at the auction & there were no dashboard lights. I did notice on the drive home that the ABS light would flicker when depressing brake pedal. I changed out the Wabco accumulator with one from my '96 and that issue was solved. It has the P38 highway death wobble: it needs a new sway bar (I have one, along with the rest of the upgrade kit that I'm willing to sell to next owner at 70% of what I paid unless you are simply going to part this out). There is an intermittent tick when the engine is running--it could be a lifter, it could be nothing. I bought this for the wife to be her summer paddleboard carrier.....that plan ended first time she drove it when she managed to activate the super lockout......and after a few frustrating hours of trying to fix it, I'm cutting my losses & moving on. Here is what I know is wrong with it at this point: it is in super-lockout; I'm 99% sure that it is a door latch issue. It is most likely the driver's side door, but the passenger side rear door simply won't open (possibly a broken latch). Truck comes with both Fobs, only one of which lights up, and two spare keys. I removed the EAS pump & system as was going to convert to springs (and I have a brand new heavy duty OME set I'm happy to work something out on as British Atlantic won't take them back after 6 months). It currently has a Rover Raiser system in it so it can be manually pumped up off the bumps, however the Rover Raiser IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE (again, we could work something out as the system was $200). I am selling this as a parts-only vehicle, and while you could get it running if you are so inclined, here is what I know needs fixed on it:Super lockout activated: you are going to have to tow this out of my driveway, and b/c superlock is activated the gear lever is locked in Park & the rear wheels are locked up---it is going to have to be flat bedded (or possibly towed from the rear). And then either the BECM removed & sent to get reprogrammed or spend $200+ to get a dealership to unlock it (after towing truck to dealer).Engine tick--I can send you a link to the FB Rover page where I posted it asking for thoughts on what was the issue). The cooling pipe that connects to the engine is going to need replacing, as the internal plastic pieces are crumbling (common)Headlight washer pump not working (runs continuously & I've disconnected it).Passenger rear door not openingPassenger door handle stickingDriver door latch likely needs replacing (I have the part & can work something out with new buyer if they want to buy it from me at 30% off my cost)Sway bar needs replacingEAS pump & block need rebuilding (I have kit & that will come with the truck): It has the British Atlantic bypass swtich installed so EAS is manual (or avoid the headache & install shocks (and happy to work out a deal on the new set I have))There is a spot of rust on the bottom of the rear hatch--pic shows it.The passenger side rear seat release is now MIA...the button may have just come loose, but I can no longer fold forward that seat.HVAC controls have been swapped with my '96: they work ok (the air volume switch is sticky), but aren't installed in the truck & I have no intent on doing so.Ditto front fog lights--And best of all: no title at this time--the dealer I bought this thru mailed it to me & it never made it. I'm trying to get a duplicate from Manheim/selling dealer, but there are no guarantees they will have it to me by end of auction, and thus this is being sold AS IS with bill of sale only. This could be a good truck for someone who knows these rigs. That person isn't me (despite me owning another P38). I neither have the time nor patience to chase electrical gremlins.
