Hello BMW E39 Fans Recent Pennsylvania inspection. I have been driving this car, and would drive it anywhere. This car burns premium gas. SCHWARTZ BLACK on BLACK Leather E39 Sport has a 5 speed automatic Step Tronic mated with a 32 valve 4.4 BMW V8. The Air conditioning blows cold. The wipers are new. The Interior is very nice considering it is a 16 year old car, the leather is pretty nice, including the drivers seat, door panels and steering wheel. The 12 way power seats and headrests work well. It starts right up and runs smooth and quiet. There are no engine codes. It drives straight down the road. It runs very quietly under acceleration. The trans shifts smoothly under light acceleration, and shifts very directly with spirited acceleration. The brake pedal is strong. The ride quiet and solid over rough pavement and bumps. The temperature gauge stays right in the middle. Most recent services include new Battery, AC compressor and Power Steering pump. The Serp belt looks new. The Pixels in the dash are almost 100%. There are no stains in the trunk, there are hidden wires for an amp and woofers. The OBC intermittently flashes Check Coolant Level and Check Side Lights. It appears to have the original radiator and hoses, but it hasn't lost any coolant. The side lights work. The outside temp reads -40, it needs a new sensor. The oil change light says it needs an oil change, but it has 3,000 miles to go, oil has a good color, and it has not used any oil. I just noticed a very small drip size of a quarter coming from the connection on the PS pump. There is a scan tool available on EBAY specific to BMW that will clear the codes. The tool kit in the trunk is missing the jack. This car has more than the normal amount of door dings, small dents and paint chips. You can't see them in the pics. The original composites were replaced with aftermarket Angel Eyes, The Xenon and ballasts are still there and work well. The installer disabled the headlight leveling control. The Headlights are quite bright. The side windows and rear glass are tinted dark. The drivers window has a rub scratch. The driver's door has a slight rattle when shutting, like a wire rub, but shuts solidly and is quiet while driving. The car is airtight. The weather stripping and door sills show wear. The clear coat on the topside of the rear bumper is worn and shows a half dozen scratches. The front bumper has a spidered area at the driver's corner from light hit. There is very little to NO RUST at all on the car. All 5 of the wheels are 17x9 style 32 15 spoke and need restoration. Most 540i Sport's have staggered wheels. This one doesn't, pretty cool, IMHO. The front tires are newer, the rears have some tread left. They ride ok. Original struts could be replaced. The black leather sport seats have a little patina and some scratches (on the passenger side see pic). The *cupholders are stuck. It has the original entertainment center, a 6 disk changer. No Navigation. There is no evidence of smoking in the car. There is slightly more than 138k miles. This car will make you smile ear to ear when you step on the gas. There are few cars like the E39 540 Sport's. A Fabulous BMW model and an enthusiast's car. Fun to drive. The car runs great. There are no error codes.
