Vehicle Detail
1984 VW Rabbit GTI with original 1.8L and 5 speed transmission. Additional pictures available here: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Goallie11/library/Rabbit The car has a 7 point cage made to SCCA/NASA/WRL spec out of 1.75" x 0.095" DOM steel with 16" square backing plates at each touch down point. The interior is stripped aside from the gauge cluster, ECU, fuse box, pedals, shifter and park brake. The gauge cluster needs a secure mount devised. It has a Kirkey seat with pink Racequip 5 point harness manufactured in Jan '17 and orange Racequip window net. Reinforcements were added for the seat similar to the backing plates for the cage. The brake systems is upgraded with a larger booster from a late 90s early 2000s Eurovan and a 24mm brake master cylinder. It has front Hawks HP+ pads and the rears are the standard drums. The powertrain is all stock, besides the front engine mount which is a new polyurethane mount. A complete new polyurethane mounts and bushings kit will be included in the sale. The AC has been removed. Recent service includes an oil change, oil, air, and fuel filters, new radiator and new valve cover gasket. There are some holes in the dash panel that need filled, that are open from the heater/AC system removal. The sunroof panel also needs to be filled. The gauge cluster needs to be securely mounted. There's minor rust on the bottom windshield lip. A new windshield and windshield seal is included but not installed. Anything I haven't mentioned is stock. Contact me for additional pictures or questions. On Aug-18-18 at 13:35:05 PDT, seller added the following information: A video of the car starting is included in the photobucket link and a video of the car driving is here: https://youtu.be/j1J5ImKh3f8. As with most Rabbit's from this era, the car does suffer from fuel starvation when low on fuel in right hand corners. This can be remedied with aftermarket fuel pick ups.On Aug-21-18 at 05:33:34 PDT, seller added the following information: The car is originally from Kansas and has been garaged since being moved to Michigan. The rust present on the bottom lip of the windshield looks like more surface rust than any penetrating rust. It's viewable in the photobucket link. The car will be sold on a bill of sale.
