Vehicle Detail
VIN# CCD149A140311 1979 Chevy C10 Bonanza Model Truck - short bed. This is a one owner truck. The truck was purchased new by my grandfather. My grandfather passed away a few months ago at the age of 92 and I am selling the truck for the estate (inherited by my wife and her brother). I have considered keeping the truck but I already have 2 trucks including a 2003 Avalanche that I purchased new and a 2001 Silverado that got from my father. My wife's brother lives in a townhouse and therefore neither of us have a place to keep the truck long term. The truck is in excellent running order. I found a small coolant leak that I fixed with a new hose clamp. I have started it weekly and driven it around the neighborhood a few times and I have not noted any other mechanical issues. The truck is not currently insured and therefore I have not driven it to work or town recently. I did drive the truck to work when we first got it while the truck was still insured. The truck drove great on the highway. My grandfather kept the truck under a large two car carport and it is in excellent structural condition. As far as I know the truck has never been wrecked. The truck has been hand painted (spray painted) by my grandfather. He took the time to match the factory color but painted over the chrome molding (this was done about a year ago). Do not know why he painted the truck other than he was always looking for something to do (gardening, wood work etc..). He could not sit in the house. He had to have something to do. The truck has minimal rust. Sitting under the trees at my house I see a hint of mildew (nothing a wash will not handle) but only very minimal rust. The only few rust spots that I find on the truck are at the top of the bed rails where the paint has a few small chips/scratches from normal use. I have included a couple of pictures. These spots are only minor. There are some rust spots on all four wheels. There is a small paint chip in the front center of the hood (about an inch long and 1/8 inch wide), but there is no sign of rust in this spot. The bed of the truck has a bed-liner. I looked underneath the truck and the bed looks solid from the underside. The cab/hood/fenders do not have any rust and I do not see any rust between the cab and the bed of the truck. The truck has no dents and is structurally solid. This truck is in excellent structural and mechanical order. My grandfather took excellent care of this truck. I have the original purchase order and owners manual. This is a Bonanza model truck with automatic transmission and tilt steering. No a/c and an AM only radio. I tried to research Bonanza model trucks from 1979 with limited success. One person told me that there were only 1000 Bonanza model trucks made, BUT I have not been able to verify this information. I did find that Bonanza trucks had the following: Bonanza Trim Package included automatic transmission, carpeting, Bonanza nameplates, a striped vinyl bench seat, chrome trim and grille, deluxe wheel covers, a clock, tachometer, radio (AM only -- This truck still has the original AM only radio), inside hood release, body-side moldings, tilt steering wheel and intermittent wipers. Update to listing: I have had a couple of questions about the bed of the truck (under bed liner) and the floor / rockers in the cab of the truck and behind the bench seat. I have checked the rockers / truck in detail. It is SOLID.. NO rust under the floor mats .. I pulled up the carpet and insulation .. solid ... looked underneath .. solid .. looked behind the bench seat and it looks good .. looks to still have a factory covering of some sort .. again checked underneath and it is solid. No rust or structural issues with this truck. I took a few extra pictures that I can send upon request. I raised the bed liner up and the bed looks good and again is solid. I replaced the original bed liner photo in the listing with a photo of the bed with the liner lifted up.
