If you follow us, you know how we build them. This van has been constructed with detail and care. In its previous life, it belonged to NOAA and was used for atmospheric research. We bought it with racks and shelving, was a commercial use of some sort. I personally drove it from VA to Colorado for the build and it sang the whole way. Now the van has a full chassis/interior overland platform. We've done all the specialty work that not many people can do, and you can use your imagination to finish the build to your preference. We have swapped the old style front for an '11 model clip and it looks beautiful. The van has a nice low profile Timberline roof rack and ladder, a fitted interior with new carpet and walls, lighting, and a fresh and thorough detail, new wheels, tires, and everything else that goes into our builds. (Details below). This is a super rare van with the right options, history, a price-tag under 30k. We are hoping it finds a great new home, adventure awaits! exteriorThis rig is in very good shape. It has nice gloss, no hail, or otherwise damage. The undercarriage looks pretty good too. It hasn't been exposed to extensive road salt like great lakes or North East vehicles, though in my extreme pickyness I wouldn't call it a complete virgin. The roof rack is new, tires, wheels, headlights, grille, all new. The front bumper is NOS I believe. (Has been floating around our shop for several years so not 100% sure.) The windshield looks good enough it may have been replaced recently. Rear bumper looks fine, sliding door has a variant of the MG hinge modification and clears the tires with room to spare even with the interior panel. Lights all functional, it had hazard lighting on the rear, so we swapped those out for conventional LED lights that work nicely for lighting up your campsite, or backing up in tight spaces when dark. You can run them independently of the headlights. The hood, header panel, latch, and fenders came off an '11 model van. We purchased this van in unmolested condition, having only a small ding on the sliding door rocker, and some paint missing from decals scraped off on the front doors. We painted the lower sections of the front doors and we spotted the right front fender while swapping the front clip. The left rear door has a little decal fade and there's a nick in behind the ladder, and a small scratch on the passenger slider. Naturally the van has a little road wear on the hood edge, rockers, etc. It's not a new van, but it's way sparkly and turns heads at every corner interiorThe interior is very good as well. We bought it with shelving and racks, everything was stripped bare, seating pressure washed, left out in sun for a few days. We pulled the padding from the front flooring and replaced with better than OEM new foil backed anti-microbial jute. The walls were all cleaned up and floor coated in epoxy paint prior to paneling. We did cut out and replace a small section of the right rear corner floor pan, abut where the spare tire jack was. They must have kept a water tank in this thing, because that spot had rust, but not really anything bad elsewhere. The floor is super solid, particularly under the drivers feet where these things are prone to rust. Now the van has nice LED lights, freshly paneled everything. All the accessories work fine, has keyless, power everything, tilt, cruise, nice cold air, all working well. It had great air when we bought it, which was nice, because it was a hot drive back. Van doesn't smell like smoke, clean and comfy to ride in. It does have rear a/c, and there's a cutout section on the paneling if you'd like it to be exposed, but it looks pretty decent having just left the paneling whole, examine photos for a better idea of what it looks like. Also, the flooring in the photos was just a mockup, it's a spare we have at the shop and we've since installed a new one. The sliding door plastic entry trim piece is a bit cracked, we can replace this at cost if you like. build / mech / misc This unit has been gone through however it didn't need a whole lot apart from our conversion. It runs nice and smooth, never so much as a check engine light come on. We did change the oil, filter, and replaced both the undercarriage and upper batteries. It's dry for a 7.3, undercarriage is free of leaks, which is impressive for a van of this age, all 7.3s should be wet by now and this darn van looks basically dry underneath. Our Timberline conversion includes but is not limited to: all new moog premium tie-rods, hellwig heaavy duty sway bar and new moog sway bar links, new premium moog ball joints, new front brake calipers, rotors, pads, brake lines, new abs sensors keep factory abs intact, yes, RSC works. This van has new pro-comp monotube aluminum shocks front and rear, custom drive-shafts, new 4-link front end with all new grade 10 hardware and bushings, 1.5" tooled solid track bar w/ 7/8" heim joints, re-manufactured 4R100 with low stall torque converter, 18k/18mo warranty through WIT. Van has a reman NP271 t-case with new linkages, LED 4x4 indicator light, has manual locking hubs, axle is from 2009 F-250 with around 60k miles, new fluids in front/rear diffs, t-case and trans. This van has 3.55 gears for best highway MPGS. I got about 17mpg coming back from VA, it won't do quite that with the conversion, but it will do several MPGS better than a V10 or V8, hands down and with more power. One slight detail about this van: The speedo is 15% faster than your actual travel rate. This is basically the difference in the tire size from what the van came with to what it has now. If you want the technical breakdown: We've done dozens of these before, but for whatever reason this van has its own agenda. To get the instrument cluster and transmission to operate properly, converting a 4R100 from 2WD to 4WD in any E40D or 4R100 vans, you have to use something like an Abbott ERA, or a Dakota Digital SGI to mod the frequency of the trans output shaft speed sensor. Normally you can dial it in such that the speedo is correct and the transmission shifts properly. Whatever the programming logic is with the ECU on this van, it's biased towards setting shift points on the trans specifically based on output shaft speed rotation, and not wheel speed, or engine rpm. Long story short, you can have a correctly reading speedo or a correctly shifting trans, but not both. SO...., the speedo is 15% faster than you're actually traveling because obviously the more important of the two is that your transmission is shifting perfectly, in which case, this one is. This speed readout quirk shouldn't be the end of the world, and you will get used to it.The van carries a 6 month 6k mile warranty on 4x4 conversion parts nation wide, labor local included, free 1000 mile check through if you're local. You will be provided with a parts replacement sheet for the 4x4 components, effectively all the serviceable components of which are available through Ford or by aftermarket application. We will also include an alignment sheet spec for you. We keep nut and bolt records on our vans so if you need something in the future we will have the answer. This van should pass emissions anywhere, exhaust is unmodified.
