Please email with questions. I can be reached at three 2 three 7146487 !!!! This is a 1998 Honda Steed 400 VLS with the rare springer front end that Honda produced for only a few years. As far as I know it is the only Springer type front end Honda has used on a bike, at least in the traditional HD springer look. This bike has a clean and clear Arizona title, it is titled as a 1992, which is how I got it. It has a Japanese 11 digit vin, so reg in California will be hard if not impossible, all other states will be ok. VLS stands for V-twin Lowdown Springer and this Steed is often called a Steed Springer in reference to the spring-type front forks more commonly referred to as girder forks.The Steed 400 engine is based on the Bros Mk2 engine, also known as the Hawk in the states...legendary reliability! The Steed stopped production in 2002, it is estimated less than 6500 of the springer version would made, so they are very rare. This is the only known one in the USA! The Springer version was quite a bit more money new than the standard Steed model so sales were slower. Very low original miles...still has original tires...and they need to be changed. The bike fires right up and runs great. Bike has typical Japanese corrosion and I have not attempted to clean any of it up so if you spend some time on it I think it will clean up quite nicely. Small ding in tank as shown, pitting on chrome (and chrome flaking) and dry rot on tires. Mechanically super solid, fires up incredibly easy, good battery, clutch, brakes etc. Rides nice. Very rare opportunity to pick one of these up. The 400 is a great around town bike but could handle longer cruises. Doubt you will ever see another Springer version for sale!!
