Vehicle Detail
It's time to sell one of my bike and it's my... Transalp. I bought this many years ago from a guy in Portland Oregon and met him in Seattle so I could drive it back to NJ. It took me 5 days and it was an awesome ride on an even more awesome bike. The Transalp was always on my bike bucket list (I also own a '76 CB750, '06 ST1300 and '07 VFR800) and after moving to Texas I am not using it anymore and feel it's more deserving of being used than sitting in the garage all day. It starts right up but has what I would call a bit of a backfire while idling that I equate to the carbs possibly being slightly out of sync but it has no issue running (I'm not a mechanic). I haven't noticed any other issues with how it runs and really love the way it rides. Other noteworthy issues, as pictured, the front fender has a hole in the backside that was there when I got it but I honestly didn't notice it until I was taking pictures to sell it. The other issue is a missing bolt on one of the muffler heat shields which is easy enough to fix but for some reason, I never find the time to do it. And that's really it... In fact, after my cross-country trip, I spent 6 months replacing any part that was not perfect and scoured the world to find everything from a rear fender (from Italy) to the orginal choke controls (Austria) to make sure the bike was up to spec. It currently has 49,506 miles and was serviced in the last 2 months with new tires/tubes/rim straps and oil/oil and air filters. I'd be willing to deliver it within 100 miles of Dallas, after full payment received, at a cost of $1.50 per mile (total round-trip mileage) or I will help with carrier pick-up at the buyer's expense. Included- the bike (of course)- 2 sets of keys- Battery Tender quick connect- LED Riding Lights- Givi Monokey top case mount (case not included)- Heated grips w/ Lo/Hi switch (I disconnected these after battery issues but it wound up being a bad battery - never reconnected but the wiring in place)- Dual cigarette lights sockets and USB ports- Happy Trails Side Racks- Soft-sided saddle bags (bolted to side racks)- Haynes Service Manual Happy Bidding. Cycle World The Transalp is a superb do-it-all motorcycle, a perfect choice for the rider who likes diversity in his riding. The XL600V enters 1989 as our favorĀite any-surface explorer: comfortable, versatile, utilitarian, and stylish. If chasing the horizon down seldom-traveled roads, paved or not, is your picture-perfect weekend, the Transalp is a first-class ticket. It unearths the old idea that a motorcycle ought to do a lot of different things well, rather than just one perfectly.
