Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1966 Pontiac GTO. This is a beautiful numbers matching, PHS verified true GTO. Everything that came from the factory for the drive train is in the car except for the carb and air cleaner but I do have them both. When you invest your money in a muscle car the most important thing to get is to have all the original drivetrain ie motor, transmission, rear end Etc. Once they're gone they're gone and the chances you would ever find the originals again is slim to none. As you've noticed a lot of the cars listed on eBay have a "date" correct or replacement motors, tranny Etc. This car has what it was born with so when you go to resell it your investment will most likely increase. This is an older restoration from the late 90s but it still looks fresh new and beautiful. I purchased this car in 1996 from the original owner and in the 52 years it's been around only two people have ever driven it me and him. So you will be only the third person to ever have the pleasure of driving this car.It is a 389, 4 Speed. It came from the factory in Cameo white with the red interior. I made the choice to paint it this eye-catching shade of maroon and it was done by the head paint and body man at an area Mercedes dealership at the time. The lines on this car are straight and true. The interior was redone with replacement covers from Original Parts Group as well as the carpet. The headliner and dash pad are original to the car and still look great. There is one very small crack in the dash pad but I couldn't bring myself to replace it for that one minor blemish, so I put a dash plaque over it when I take it to shows. When I bought the car it was rough to say the least but a very solid, no rust California car its whole life. I had the original motor rebuilt the transmission and rear-end checked drained and refilled with new gear oil. The odometer reads 71,474 and I purchased the vehicle at 59,489 so it has about 12k miles on the engine. The only reason I'm selling this is she needs a new home. I own my own business and I just don't have much time to spend with her. I just replaced the heater core, battery and had the oil changed a couple of weeks ago. When a car sits too long the heater core doesn't fare too well I've owned this car for over 22 years and have driven her to Los Angeles, over 400 miles a few times and to Denver and back and have never had any problems with it, you can hop in and be confident anywhere you want to go. It was ordered pretty much as a bare bones car; no power steering or power brakes just the essentials. The original AM radio is in the car but it doesn't work. There's one ding in the middle of the hood, totally my fault, I closed the hood and hadn't cut down the air cleaner bolt screw that holds the air cleaner down and it put a small spider crack in the paint. The console lid is broken at the hinge. It sits on it fine but when you flip it open, it's unattached.I've taken alot of pics but if there's something specific you'd like a better look at just ask and of course any questions feel free to ask. I love this car but she needs someone who would take her out to shows and cruises and really appreciate her. I do want to sell her so I've set a very reasonable Reserve. This is only the third time in 52 years that this car will be available for purchase and again you will be only the third person to ever drive it! I have tons of receipts and registration papers dating all the way back to the 70s. I met with the original owner after I restored it. He met me at a car show and we talked and he told me how he never let anyone else drive it (other than a mechanic pulling it into a shop or the like) no one has driven it since I've had it. I did let him drive it at the car show and it actually brought tears to his eyes. I know it will to mine as it leaves my house as well. Bid confidently, you will be extremely happy with this car and proud to show it and cruise it. You can't go a hundred yards without a thumbs-up or a "nice car" yell from fellow drivers and be prepared for everyone's GTO stories every time you fill her up at the gas station. Please take care of her she's like family to me and I really want to see her have fun again!
