Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1968 Mercedes Benz 280SE. It runs and drives well, with only 100,450 original miles. Check out all the pictures if you're interested. The A/C works but doesn't blow super cold. The heater is great. Original Becker radio works, and all gauges and dials work great except for clock. The interior has some missing or damaged wood trim pieces, but the seats and headliner are stunning -- no rips or tears. Manual locks and windows, no sunroof, automatic transmission. The body does have some chips and small scratches and bubbles in paint, and a small dent in front passenger fender. It has always been garage-kept in the five years I've owned it. It is starting to rust along the passenger rear tire well, with some sediment marks from water dripping in the garage -- photos provided show this. Other visible rust is developing underneath (not surprising, given the age). This is a 50-year old car. It is being sold as-is, where-is, no guarantees, and I have little knowledge about cars (but I will answer any questions as best as I can). This has always just been a toy for me to drive around town. I had a new battery, points and plugs all done the end of winter to be ready for the nice driving weather. The engine does take a moment to idle smoothly once it's started, and you can hear that some exhaust work is in order. It could use a tune-up and fluids changed if you want this to be a regular driver. I did take it on a 600-mile road trip in the fall, and it ran like a dream. Obviously, it needs work to be a show car -- but this is a great chance to own a wonderful rare vehicle at a great price. It always turns heads, and any time I take it out, I get compliments from curious and impressed on-lookers. You can drive away in it today!
