1983 Honda CB1000 Custom that retains its original look. Powerful, fun to ride, 973 cc air-cooled engine with shaft drive and 5-speed trans with hi-low range, disk brakes front and rear. 13,230 miles on replacement engine, 34,700 miles on replacement instruments, 62,060 miles on the frame. The numbers rise slowly as I clock about 50-75 miles per week. Within the last 1,500 miles (about 2 years): New Vance & Hyde cam chains and main tensioner, new Viton engine valve seals, new Dyna coils and spark plug wires, new Michelin Commander II tires, new brake hoses and pads, rebuilt front and rear master cylinders, new clutch, new steering bearing, new stator. Carburetors rebuilt in 2012 with Randakk kit, replacing all rubber parts (still has original jets). Rebuilt forks in 2013 using new Progressive springs, also replaced wheel bearings. Engine compression: 175, 170, 175, 180 psi (new spec is 170 +/- 10 psi). Sale includes spare valve shims, shim removal tool, special combo screwdriver/wrench for carb synch adjustments, and miscellaneous spare parts. Also includes rebuild parts for rear suspension (the original air suspension is fully functional but the rubber accordion dust boots are split). Original paint on the fuel tank and side covers, but the clear coat is peeling especially on the tank. Vinyl storage bag on the backrest has a torn zipper, but an upholstery shop can make a replacement. Seat cover is fully intact but is aging. New original-style seat covers can be found on eBay for about $75, an easy do-it-yourself job with a staple gun.A mechanic replaced the steering bearing about two years ago, but the front end shakes a bit. Not sure what's the issue: could be the steering bearing, wheel bearings, or unbalanced or bad tire. Payment: $500 deposit through PayPal within 48 hours.
