Vehicle Detail
This is an Italian classic that can be yours for a reasonable price. It was originally owned by a woman in Alabama. A gentleman in Florida acquired it for his collection at an estate sale. It was bought by the owner before me in September 2012. It came with power windows and factory air conditioning. It has a 1995cc double overhead cam engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. The odometer has 45,495 miles, which is believed to be accurate. The previous owner performed a mild restoration: timing belt a/c and alternator belts were replaced. The disc "donut" in the drive shaft was replaced. Brake calipers, hoses and brake fluid were replaced. New thermostat, water pump, battery, air filter, spark plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cap were replaced. Valves were professionally adjusted by a Fiat specialist. The steering box was adjusted and fluid replenished. The gearbox and rear axle oil were drained and renewed. A new relay was installed for the a/c, along with recharging it with Freon. It worked but needed recharging when I got the car, which I have not done, so cannot confirm whether it would work if recharged. Hi-Performance aluminum radiator installed with an electric fan from Vick Autosport. Stock Weber carburetor was replaced with a new 32/36 DFEV unit. Anti-emission equipment has been removed and is not available. The car has a "Nardi" steering wheel, and the original wheel is still with the car. Headlights were replaced with Halogen. New Pininfarina custom floor mats are installed. The car was consistently garaged and spent most of its life "down South", until I acquired it in July 2014, In October 2017, I had the power brake booster replaced, which required removing the cylinder head and replacing the timing belt. A bolt on the cylinder head was retapped and replaced. The front and rear struts, springs and bushings were replaced. The transmission and engine mounts were replaced. the coolant system was drained and refilled. I bought the car in July 2014 and have stored it yearly from October to May in a climate-controlled unit. The clock stopped working while in storage one winter with the battery out of the car. The power windows work slowly, with the passenger side needing a little help by hand. It starts easily and runs well. The gearbox and clutch work well. The body and finish have the patina of almost 40 years of use but is rust-free with no evidence of ever being damaged. The seats, dash and top are all in good condition. There is some damage to the center console behind the emergency brake lever. Summary 1979 Fiat 2000 Spider45,495 Miles VIN# - 124CS20155727Engine # - 961243Paint Code - 285
