Vehicle Detail
Light Auburn Crystal Coat Metallic (one of only 429!). Original paint and stripes. According to previous owner, car was stored in an enclosed facility, but the hood and fenders were not covered…So they are not shiny like the rest of the paint. I read somewhere that only two colors in 1981 had a clear-coat applied, and this was one of them. It appears the clear coat has clouded (very common in the 80's). I compounded a section, and it looks better, but could use more elbow grease. There are a few dings on the passenger door, but no rust, and the car is very presentable. The main reason I bought this car is the fuel injection system is still intact but lately has been a bit erratic (stalls sometimes right after starting, but runs fine after). The EFI 318 seems to be much peppier than the normally aspirated 318. Transmission seems fine too. I have a bin of extra fuel injection components that will be included with the sale… Shows 37780 miles, and based on the overall condition, appears to be original. Actual mileage is slightly higher since I've been driving it locally. If you know these cars, they were quirky, and although Chrysler gave them special attention, a lot of things didn’t last long…For example, the passenger window works fine, but is noisy…Moon roof (only available in 1981) operates slowly, so I didn’t force it. Passenger side wiper and power antenna don’t work, but the optional "search tune" radio still picks up stations. All electronic dash functions work except for the fuel gauge and the computer "reset" button . There seems to be a slight oil drip from around the pan gasket. I changed all the dash cluster bulbs to LED and it lights up beautifully. Seats, dash and carpets are excellent. The exhaust tailpipe is missing from the muffler back, but the muffler is fine. Other than that, it’s a handsome car, that gets a lot of attention. The car has a new battery too.... Last time I listed it, a few people asked if the A/C works...it does not, and in a 37 year old car, there is bound to be a leak someplace. I never bothered to look into it... I've lowered the price because I don't want the car to just sit around, I hope it goes to someone who knows how to handle them...Please let me know if you have any additional questions, or would like specific pictures. Thanks for looking!
