Vehicle Detail
1967 LAND ROVER SANTANA 109 (SERIES IIA) ACTUAL VIN# E60605819 NOTE: THIS VEHICLE IS LOCATED IN DENIA, SPAIN, but I ship to the USA. Please check my feedback, and please read the entire listing before bidding. I am an American, living in Spain, and I sell and export vehicles to the USA regularly. Although shipping costs are not included in the price of the sale, I work every month with an established worldwide shipper and will work directly with the buyer to arrange delivery to the USA. I will drop the vehicle off at the port of Valencia for you at no additional cost, prepare all the proper documentation for shipping to the USA, and handle all the US customs and importation on the USA side. If you would like me to handle the shipping, customs paperwork, and everything for you, the cost is a flat-rate of $2500, port-to-port, to your choice of Baltimore, MD or Jacksonville, FL or Freeport (Galveston), TX. No additional costs. No work on your part. You just pick the car up from the port, fully cleared and released. Once the vehicle is in your possession, you will also have all the documents you need to register the car in all 50 states (California included). I can even arrange transportation within the USA, from the port to your driveway. In short, I am here to help with every step of the process of delivering this vehicle to you. You are of course welcome to fly here and test the car for yourself before you bid, but if that is not feasible, I will be happy to take additional photos, videos, etc. and send them to you. Whatever you need. We can speak on the telephone, or by Skype, so you can see the vehicle in real time before you bid. If you have any questions, please ask and I will post as many answers here as possible. WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?After a fresh cosmetic restoration, starting from a rust free and beautifully kept original example, this 109 2-door has magnificent curb appeal and correct detailing throughout. Marine Blue paint is beautiful and all the original body panels are straight, with excellent panel fit and door gaps, front and rear. The Alaskan White roof and wheels set off the color combination in a striking and classic way, and all the original galvanized belt line trim is unmolested and correct. New front bumper, lamps and other exterior details have been attended to, and the truck looks great from every angle.Inside, the seats have been recently reupholstered in original style black vinyl and the central dash panel has been sprayed Alaskan White to match the roof. Everything is correct and rust free, and all gauges and lights and other accessories function as they should.Underneath, the chassis is entirely straight and entirely free of rust. There is no rust anywhere - not in the frame longitudinals, cross members, suspension pickup points, bulkheads, floors, door... No rust anywhere. No leaks, either. Park it in your garage for a month and when you pull it out again, you'll find nothing on the floor underneath. No drips, no nothing. It's a clean, correct and wonderful looking 109.WHAT'S IT LIKE TO DRIVE?These Series IIA's are a delight. After warming the glow plugs a bit, it fires instantly and idles smoothly, with no undue clatter or smoke. The clutch is typically firm and takes up at the correct height, and the gear change is crisp, positive and notchy, exactly as it should be.Underway, the legendary two-and-a-quarter liter Rover diesel pulls with lusty determination, and acceleration is perfectly adequate to keep up with modern traffic on anything but interstate highways. Steering is typically heavy at parking lot speeds (although less so with the correctly-sized tires) but lightens up instantly underway, and is extremely direct and without excessive play. The braking, similarly, is is positive and sure, with no wooden feel to the pedal and plenty of progressive feel for modulation. In short, it pulls with typical pluck, shifts beautifully, and goes where you point it with ease, and when it's time to stop, it does so with no noise, vibration or pulling. The 2WD/4WD transfer case engages with no balkiness, and both low and high range work perfectly with no noise. If you are feeling inclined, you can of course remove the roof (and the top portions of the doors) and run the truck fully open. You can even fold down the windscreen if you're feeling randy. But if you don't, with the front vents open and the "tropical" roof in place, it does a great job of keeping the summer sun at bay and is a remarkably refreshing and airy place to spend time.Everything works as it should. All gauges, lights and switches work as intended, and the vehicle has recently passed the rigorous Spanish safety inspection without issue. It needs nothing for daily use, on road or off.For more information, including additional photos and videos, visit https://www.autologymotors.com/landrover109s2a
