This is a real Barn Find highly optioned original Firebird that has been in storage since 1980. This is one of the nicest body / sheetmetal / frame Firebird I've seen in years. This car is perfect for a resto mod or a Smokey and the Bandit Black and Gold SE Trans Am clone or tribute car. Purchased on March 11th 1977 at Arnold Wiebe Pontiac, Buick, Opel in Visalia, CA and is complete with original buildsheet, California pink slip, federal odometer statement from 1977, owners manual packet, it has the original spark plug wires and I have the original 5 tires from 1977. OPTIONS: ESPIRIT PACKAGE / AIR CONDITIONING / DELUXE INTERIOR / POWER WINDOWS / POWER DOOR LOCLS / TIL STEERING WHEEL / AM-FM STEREO / 8 TRACK TAPE PLAYER / GAUGE PACKAGE WITH CLOCK / REMOTE MIRROR BODY: Original sheetmetal / Original Paint / NO RUST / No Bodywork EVER!! Completely rust free trunk, frame rails, rockers, doors, quarters, fenders, floors, trunk drops, leaf spring mounts etc etc.....you get the point! There is a dent in RF door that extends into quarter, ding in LR quarter. Doors open and close easily and like new. PAINT: Looks really nice and shines well, not show quaility but excellent driver, cruise night quailty. All original, the original owner told me no paint work ever! Slight swirl marks from a light polish/ cleaning in black paint seen in the sun, super small laquer checking in the roof and hood (paint is 41 years old), INTERIOR: Deluxe Black all original, seats-no rips, no tears, excellent original condition / dash pad is perfect / gauge package with clock / AM-FM Stereo radio w/ optional 8 track / door panels are excellent / power windows work / console has a little wear or damage by power window switches and the headliner is falling from the perforated board on the ceiling. SUSPENSION & BRAKES: All original right down to the spiral shocks and inspection decals on the brake hoses as well as brake drums and leaf springs...not reproduction decals ALL ORIGINAL! Vehicles rolls, brakes, and steers and sits as it should. POWERTRAIN: #'s matching 350ci 4 bbl 8 cylinder engine equipped with CA smog or air injection Still has the original date coded spark plug wires / 3 spd automatic transmission / 2.41 rear axle ratio Note engine was overheating in 1980 and the customer brought it to a local garage for it to be checked. The garage told the customer that it needed a head gasket and they began the process of removing the intake and heads. The owner talked to her Dad and the garage was told to stop the work and tow the car to the owner's house...where it sat inside a California garage for the next 37 years. Over those 37 years someone put the heads and intake back together utilizing all the original parts and hardware as much as possible. The engine will crank over with a battery charger (battery is from 1978) and fire up with a shot of carb cleaner, but doesn't stay running. The oil pressure gauge reads 40 psi during cranking. The fuel system needs to be cleaned and I can't gaurantee the condition of the engine as it has sat for 37 years. Therefore I am stating that the engine should be rebuilt if you want to keep it all original and the vehicle must be towed. EXHAUST: original catalytic converter and dual exhaust muffler and tailpipes WHEELS & TIRES: original tires and wheels available if buyer would like, original spare mouted in trunk. On vehicle now are pontiac rally wheels and decent tires just to move the car around on. trim rings do have some curb rash. This vehicle is a great foundation for a resto-mod or TRANS AM clone...the interior and rust free body make it perfect for that. Add shaker hood, fender flares, fender vents, some gold decals and wheels and a 400 and waaa laaaa the bandit is here. The price of this vehicle is well worth what you are paying for. No rust repair work needed......that is saving you thousandths upon thousandths of dollars!!! Opening bid will pay for 2 weeks in a body shop.
