Vehicle Detail
1980 300TD TD 300 W123 Mercedes-Benz Wagon. Rare. Original. Ex. Condition. NO RESERVE. I am selling my Mercedes-Benz 1980 300TD. It is original, save for repairs and replacements. Runs great. The body color is “Desert Tan.” The interior is “Palomino.” The car is in excellent mechanical condition. The interior rates a Very Good to Good, as does the exterior with its original paint. This was a California car until I purchased it four years ago from the original owner. I received it with a rebuilt engine with 80,000 miles on it. I had air conditioning and heating systems redone. The odometer shows 374,847, though you’d never know it (with that rebuilt engine and many extras). The rebuilt transmission has just 200 miles on it. The car has new glow plugs, a new starter, and new muffler and exhaust. The rear brakes were just replaced in preparation for sale. I had an engine block heater installed for extra cold starts (well-below freezing) but have not had to use it. Power windows work well. Seat belts move perfectly. The battery is about a year old. The car runs and runs. It floats at lower and higher speeds. The Mercedes suspension balances the car as if it were brand new. MPG – a wonderful 30/32. (This is a diesel.) I took the car to my mechanic before offering it for sale. He took care of any final items needing attention. She is ready to go. Interior. I replaced the cracked dashboard (California sun) with another 1980 300 TD dash. I have the original dash if you’d like to have that as well. I have mint replacement (1980) map door pockets for the driver and passenger doors. (Photo) Other than that, the interior remains untouched. The leather seats have darkened a bit with time, but are comfortable and supple. No rips. Piping intact. The arm rest between the two front seats shows cracking in the leather. There is some shrinkage/cracking on interior vinyl window trim (see photos). There is a nick in the wood paneling. Some of the carpeting has discolored with age and sun, the most obvious is in the very rear. (Photos) There is a manual sunroof. It works well. No leaks. Body. The original paint looks great for its age. Close up, you may see some fading that did not show when photographed. There are paint tough-ups. There is a crack in the center of the front bumper, pictured. Nothing I’d replace. The body is strong and ramrod straight. Tires have thousands of miles left on them. Aside from the three map cases, I am including the old dash, a stack of floor mats, a black dash cover, the original booklets and manual, an ignition key and a door key. I am selling because I do not need this vehicle. I have several others. My 300TD is for sale elsewhere, so I reserve the right to end this auction early if it sells. The buyer must arrange for shipping if that is his/her choice. I am happy to work with shippers. Local pick-up is an option. Again, there is no reserve and my pricing is well within the parameters listed in several industry guides. Obviously, clear title, registration, etc. It has passed state inspection four years in a row without any issues. I have no worries about this vehicle. Serious buyers are welcome to send a mechanic to inspect the car at their expense. Buyers are welcome to test drive. I have additional photos that will not fit within ebay's limit. I have received very strong offers after bidding closes. I will not respond to offers outside of ebay (unless they are from another ad/venue cars, com, etc.). Reasonable offers through ebay will be considered. Terms. One thousand to me via PayPal within 48 hours after the close of the auction. The remaining funds must be to me within seven days after the close of the auction. I will release the car once the funds have cleared in my account. Car sold "As Is." All sales are final.
