“Incredible find! Beautiful, pampered factor Turbo with new battery, tires and everything running perfectly. Synthetic fluids. Starts every time, runs and handles great. Was in perfect condition until tip-over has left minor cosmetic damage (see pics). Overall near mint condition.” 1982 HONDA CX 500 TC TURBO 14k Original Miles - Rare - Outstanding Condition (w/ tip over damage) - Second Owner. Produced by Honda, the CX 500 Turbo has developed a cult following worldwide. This was the very first factory designed and built turbo bike. Lore is Honda lost money on everyone they made as they spared no technological expense, and would only send 1 to each dealer. The original owner purchased the bike in '86 (on the original MSO) from a New Jersey Honda Dealer who chose to keep the bike so he and his family could ride it themselves. I bought the motorcycle from him, and have ridden it maybe a total of 10 times for 20 miles in the time I’ve owned it. I just don’t have time. It's been meticulously maintained and carefully ridden. It has been one of the nicest 500 Turbo's around. The bike was in near mint condition until it tipped over when the kickstand dug into the previous owners gravel driveway and it fell onto it’s side. In his rush to pick up the bike, he tipped it over on the other side. The bike is in excellent mechanical condition with fresh Bridgestone tires. The bike has always been ridden as a "fair weather”. 15k original miles! Synthetic oil changes every 1000 miles, fresh spark plugs every other year. Everything works properly, the turbo pulls strong and the bike handles and stops as it should. The cosmetics are really nice (except the damage from the falls) since the bike was always kept indoors and waxed frequently. It’s never been left out in the sun. This Honda was always been correctly stored when not in use, the fuel tank topped off with stabilizer, cyl, oil, the battery pulled (though it has a brand new battery now), started and ridden a few times every year. Here's a startup video to hear here purrrrr: https://youtu.be/AoydaL8mcAs Includes a magazines from the period. The bike starts right away, brakes excellent, handles excellent. This was an impressive offering from Honda back in '82. Noted for its technical innovation with: Pro-Link air adjustable suspension, Comstar wheels, anti-dive front end, a hollow rear disc brake, high-boost computer-controlled turbo with fuel injection, a comfortable riding position and great wind protection. A great example of Honda's brilliant engineering - it’s an absolute blast to ride with a great turbo kick, very stable handling and all day comfort. The stator is original and the charging system works properly. I and the previous owner have been aware of the known stator issue and have always run avoid the heat build up from excess wattage. Using synthetic oil also helped to reduce overheating the stator. Minor upgrades: Fork brace, braided stainless front brake lines, a 140 watt headlamp and a louder horn. The damage will require the fairing to be repainted to be like new and new fairing decals applied (available from a third party). There's also a crack in one of the turn signals, though minor-enough I didn't see reason to fix. I could dismantle and sell the bike piece by piece for much more than my starting bid but would love to see the bike live on. I prefer local pick-up but will be helpful in shipping the bike with the understanding that the buyer assumes all responsibility. I’m just outside of Philly close to the Delaware River, Trenton, NJ Turnpike, etc. Cash upon pickup or before shipping. Shipping that buyer assumes full responsibility for arranging and paying, only.
